Outer Coast Outer Coast

Outer Coast is based in Sitka, Alaska and empowers students to take responsibility in their own learning, community, and life. Admissions are need-blind and we meet full financial need for all of our students, so cost is never a barrier. The programs feature academics co-taught by indigenous community leaders and professors from the likes of Stanford and Harvard, student-led service projects where students take on real responsibilities in the community (like emergency medical response or historic building restoration), and opportunities for students to significantly influence their education and the institutional processes (like serving on the board of trustees and admitting future students) all within a robust community support system.

The application for our two-year undergraduate program, where high school graduates can complete up to the first two years of college credit (59 credits) through our partnership with University of Alaska Southeast, is now accepting applications with a Priority Deadline of November 15. Outer Coast offers a full-ride scholarship for students in our undergraduate program. All Alaskan students will be eligible to be considered for the needs-based scholarship, which will cover tuition, food, housing, and additional expenses.

Our Summer Seminar application, a pay-as-you-can 2.5 week program for 24 students will open January 1, 2027 and is due on March 1, 2027 and all sophomores, juniors and (if Alaskan) seniors are eligible.
