The Buzz
AUTUMN TERM - 25TH SEPTEMBER 2025
Message from the Head of School
As we come to the end of our fourth week at HISN, we continue to enjoy the sunshine even if it is a little fresh! At HPP we work hard to develop our principles and at HISN we have been really focusing on the children developing their independence and what this looks like from Nursery all the way to Year 2. Our staff are doing a great job in the lunch-hall with supporting the children and I took great pride in observing how the children are developing their independence during this time. Reception has now transitioned to school lunches; they were confident collecting their food, walking back to their seat and clearing their plate and cutlery when they had finished. Bravo!
Parent Volunteer Meetings
Last week, it was great to see so many parents attend the ‘Parent Volunteer Meeting’ which was hosted at Hampton Junior School. If you would like to volunteer and have yet to complete the training, please remember that the next date for this is at HISN tomorrow, Friday 26th September, at 9am.
Phonics Workshop for Parents
A big thank you this week to our Assistant Head - Mrs Davies for leading a very well informed phonics workshop for parents. All the slides will be available on our website.
Clubs across the partnership
Clubs are now in full swing and I am pleased to say we continue to offer a huge range across the partnership. Clubs are run by external providers and therefore if you have any questions, concerns or change of pick up arrangements, your first port of call should be directly to the club. If for any reason you are not satisfied with their response, please do then speak to a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Donations
If you have any colouring pencils, puzzles (for children aged 5-7), colouring books (unused please) or A4 scrap paper, please could you bring it to the office as Mrs Davies and Mrs Hughes are developing resources for KS1 playtime. Thank you in advance.

Year 2
We have had a fantastic start to the year in year 2, settling into our new classes and routines. As we have become the proud owners of our new class pets we were set a challenge by Ms Lockey and the WWF to make sure we were animal experts and knew how to take care of our new pets. In English we spent time researching our class animals, built a fact file and then a non-chronological report all about them. We finished our topic thinking by writing a class quiz and testing our friends on their knowledge. We are pleased to say we are now animal experts and are ready to be excellent owners to our zebra, giraffe, koala and tortoise.
In maths we have been learning about place value and using this knowledge to build and create number lines. We have learnt about intervals on a number line and how a number line can support us in our calculations.
In history we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. We have loved learning about how the fire started, how it spread and how it eventually ended. In our lessons were have learnt about primary and secondary sources, looked at examples of these sources and then used role play drama to think about how the people of London would have felt watching the fire burn.
We have also thought about the Great Fire of London in our art lessons as we used our skills to create a collage of the Great Fire of London.
Our computing topic for this year has begun by thinking about what is IT, where can we find it and how do we use it. This week we have thought about IT we find outdoor and IT we find indoors. I wonder what examples you can find at home and out in Hampton this weekend?

Messages from the Office
Mobile Phones
Parents should end their phone calls before they enter the school site so that you can greet your children without any distractions and with a smile.
Parking
A reminder to all parents to be considerate to our neighbours when dropping off in the morning and collecting at the end of the day. We do have parking enforcement officers regularly in attendance so please do not park on zigzags, double lines, corners of roads, across neighbours driveways. Ripley Road is a School Street zone and is closed to traffic Monday-Friday 8.30am-9.00am and 2.45pm-3.15pm.
