Franconia Falcons SOAR to Success!
Read Across America Week
March 2 - March 6
Reading Olympics
First grade enjoyed a special visit from The Elmwood Park Zoo. They brought in a few friends from the zoo to show our first graders who just finished up their Animal Play Shop.
100 Box Challenge
Our 5th grade student council is hosting a food drive for our neighborhood Bean Bag Program.
This program provides weekend meals, encouragement, and support to children facing food insecurity right here in our neighborhood. Through a network of caring volunteers and strong community partnerships, we deliver food directly to the homes of children who need it most. We will collect food from March 1 - 31st.
Screenagers
In February, Souderton held a Screenagers movie event helping parents navigate the challenges children, parents, and educators face in today’s digital world, including early exposure to online content, social media pressures, device distractions in the classroom, moderating video game use and behavior, and rising sleep deprivation among youth. Below you will find some information from the event.

Upcoming Fundraiser Events
Breakfast
When there is a two-hour delay, please make sure your children have breakfast before coming to school. Breakfast is not served when we have a two-hour delay. Thank you for your cooperation!
🥶 Cold Weather 🥶
Now that the cold weather is upon us, we want to ask you to remind your child to wear a coat, hat, pants, and mittens or gloves to school. We are outside for recess when the actual temperature is 16 degrees or above. A shortened “cold weather recess” will be in effect when the temperature and/or wind chill is between 15 and 20 degrees. In order to protect the health of our students, we want children to go outside wearing adequate protection.
Thank you for your help in reminding your child to wear his/her winter gear to school.
Flexible Instruction Day (FID) Information
As we move into the winter months, below are just a few reminders about Flexible Instruction Days.
Souderton Area School District will occasionally use Flexible Instructional Days (FID) rather than traditional “snow days.” Here is a brief reminder of FID expectations:
- A FID is considered a school day. To be counted as attending school, students must respond to the Schoology discussion post/question posted by their teacher. Students must respond to the post by 10:00AM. If a child is unable to access the Internet, then the parent should call the school office at 215-723-2596 to leave a message on the attendance line indicating that the student was unable to access Schoology to answer the discussion post/question.
- Students must complete schoolwork via Schoology. There will be no live sessions. Children may complete schoolwork at a time that is convenient for their family. Your child’s teacher is available, via e-mail, throughout the school day to answer any questions that you or your child have regarding their schoolwork.
- Students or families experiencing technology problems may contact the Student Help Desk for technology support. A link to the Student Help Desk is available by clicking here. Before submitting a support request, please follow the three steps below:
1. Restart your device (power off and power back on).
2. Check that your device is not in airplane mode.
3. Check that the wireless connection is enabled.
Car Rider Reminder
Car rider doors are open from 8:30-8:42am. During this time, all parents who drive their children to school should wait in the car rider line and drop off at the designated car rider door. Do not park in the front of the building and walk your child to the door as this is unsafe, and please do not drop off at the main office at this time because the line is too long. Always check the car rider line before dropping off at the main office. This goes for afternoon dismissal as well. Thank you for your cooperation.
Home and School Board & Committee Members Needed
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already signed up! The kids are incredibly lucky to have such supportive people like you making these big events and fundraisers a reality. But we’re not done yet—we still need a President, Vice President, and Secretary. Here's what the roles entail:
President: As President, you'll work closely with Dr. Heineck and the Franconia staff on planning and brainstorming for various events. These ideas will then be brought to the Home & School meetings, where they’ll be presented, reviewed, and approved.
Vice President: Your main job is to back up the President. Think of it as the ultimate team support role!
Secretary: Take notes at meeting(s), post meeting minutes with the district, and update the weekly newsletter with staff from Franconia.
📘 YEARBOOK COMMITTEE
A great option for volunteers who prefer to work from home!
• Organize student portraits and candid photos.
• Manage orders and records.
• Communicate with the yearbook company.
You DO NOT need to take pictures to do this role!!!!!!
💙 FUNDRAISING & SPONSORSHIPS
Funds support school programs, technology, field trips, and teacher supplies.
• Fun Run (Fall, Major Fundraiser)
• Dine & Donate Events (1–2 per month): Raffle baskets, donation collections.

• Spirit Wear: Online store, new designs, and order distribution.
🎓 5TH GRADE PROMOTION (5th Grade Parents Only)

🙌 GET INVOLVED!
Volunteering is a great way to support our school, meet other families, and create lasting memories for our students. Sign up today or contact Franconia Home & School for more information!
