Mid Quarter Progress Reports
We hope that your student is off to a strong start this semester. As we approach the end of the first quarter in just two weeks, we want to remind you that progress reports will be sent out via encrypted email soon. These reports can be accessed using your student's ID number. They provide valuable insight into your student's current academic performance, highlight areas of strength, and identify subjects where additional support may be needed.
Why Is Monitoring Student Progress Important?
Staying informed about your child's academic progress is essential to their success. Regularly reviewing PowerSchool and Schoology can prevent minor setbacks from becoming significant challenges.
Identify Areas of Concern Early:
Mid-quarter Progress Reports provide a snapshot of your child's current performance. Addressing issues promptly can prevent minor setbacks from becoming significant challenges.
Encourage Academic Accountability:
Discussing grades and assignments with your students weekly fosters a sense of responsibility and accountability in their educational journey.
Celebrate Achievements:
Acknowledging your child's hard work and dedication when they perform well in their classes. Positive reinforcement is key to maintaining motivation and morale.
Parent-Teacher Communication:
We encourage all parents to participate in their child's education actively. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's progress, please don't hesitate to contact their teachers or grade-level support. Our dedicated staff is here to support your student's academic journey and can provide strategies, resources, and additional support as needed.
Please plan to attend our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences to enhance this partnership further. This is an excellent opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with your child's teachers, discuss progress in each subject, and work together to ensure your students' success. Details for Parent-Teacher Conferences are below:
Date: October 24
Time: 6-8 PM
💙 We are the PIRATES and we bleed BLUE! 💙
Hey everyone!
We're excited to share that Bring Your Parent to School Day was a blast! We had a fantastic turnout, with over 100 parents joining the fun, making it a true family affair at the school. Parents sported their favorite jerseys, adding extra energy to our Spirit Week theme and showing off their Pirate Pride. The excitement continued as Pirate families got an inside look at our school, learned about all the cool things happening, and even had the chance to join our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) to help make Proviso East even better. And what's a Pirate event without some awesome swag? Every parent or guardian left with Proviso East shirts, tumblers, and other goodies to show off their Pirate spirit wherever they go. Plus, we ensured our parents enjoyed some delicious refreshments to keep their energy up. It was great to see parents making connections, sharing feedback, and discussing ways to continue building our school-community partnership. Our school prioritizes strong communication with parents and looks forward to building on the critical conversations we had.
Thanks to all the fantastic parents and guardians who made Bring Your Parent to School Day an unforgettable experience.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to connect and show off your Pirate Pride!
With MUCH Appreciation,
Cori Hobbs

Help Us Keep Our School Community Healthy
As we move through the school year, the health and safety of our students, staff, and community remain our top priority. To ensure that our school environment remains safe and healthy for everyone, we kindly ask for your cooperation in the following:
Please keep your child at home if they are experiencing any symptoms of contagious illnesses such as strep throat, COVID-19, the flu, or similar ailments. Common symptoms to watch out for include, but are not limited to:
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Persistent cough
- Shortness of breath
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Fatigue or muscle aches
- Headache
- Loss of taste or smell
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
By keeping your child home when they are feeling unwell, you are playing an important role in preventing the spread of illnesses and protecting the health of other students and staff members.
Attendance Matters
While it's important to keep sick children at home when they are unwell, we also want to emphasize the importance of regular attendance when your child is healthy. Consistent attendance is critical for your child's academic success. Each day builds on the next, and frequent absences can make it challenging for students to keep up with classwork, remain engaged in learning, and develop the social skills that are so important during these formative years.
We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment for all students and we believe that with your help, we can balance the need for safety with the importance of attendance. If your student will be absent, please communicate with our Attendance Office and your child's teachers.
Ms. Northern, our school nurse, is available to answer any questions you may have from 7:30-3:00 during the school week. She can be reached at Ext: 1797 or by emailing knorthern@pths209.org
The Medical Exclusion Date Is Near!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is a reminder that October 15th is the state-mandated Medical Exclusion Date. Per the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requirements, all students must have a completed health examination and up-to-date immunizations on file by this date. Students who do not meet these requirements by October 15th may be excluded from school until the necessary document is provided.
If you have not yet submitted your child's health records, please do so as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions in their attendance. Contact our school nurse or administrative office if you have any questions or need assistance.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for helping us ensure the health and safety of our school community.

💙 ¡Somos los PIRATAS y sangramos AZUL! 💙

Ayúdenos a mantener saludable a nuestra comunidad escolar
