TUESDAY'S FIT PE/PLCs
For our first Fit PE Tuesday (8/19), PLCs will be provided the gift of time to support unpacking and planning for our new ELA Benchmark curriculum. As we discussed at our first meeting, we have two big waves of focus and we will spend the year working to find balance as we lean into both. From listening to teachers, it sounds like we could all use some extra time exploring and planning for ELA. Please use this first FIT PE Tuesday (8/19) to work as a PLC on ELA curriculum planning. The TRE Lab is yours to use during PLC time. Kathleen and I will pop in to see if we can support in any way. FIT PE/PLC Schedule
We will start our math focused PLCs with OCDE support on Tuesday, Aug 26th.
UPCOMING ELA / MATH SUB RELEASE DAYS ~ UPDATES
In the continued theme of listening and being responsive to our needs as a staff, I have made the decision to flip flop our two upcoming sub-release days. We will now focus on Benchmark ELA/ELD on 9/4 and shift the January dates to be Math focused. Since we focused so much on math this past year and have our weekly Math PLCs, I think we would all benefit from using this first release day to better understand and plan for ELA. I have updated the spreadsheet to provide clarity in booking your subs. There were a few adjustments made, so please review.
Math/ELA Sub Release Days Spreadsheet
As a reminder, the person highlighted in yellow books a full day sub and lists the sub job # on the spreadsheet so that the sub partner (not highlighted) can include the sub job number on their conference request form.
If you already turned in your conference request form, Sumitra will update reason and budget information. If you haven't done your conference form yet, please make sure to reflect the following...
- 9/4 - ELA Benchmark Unit Unpacking and Planning (site paid)
- 1/15 or 1/22 - Math Unit Unpacking and Planning (Math Block Grant - district paid)
If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
DUTY SCHEDULE | Certificated & Classified
The Duty Schedule has been updated with our change in 3rd grade bell schedule. This resulted in shifting many duty assignments to ensure coverage. As you review, if you need to swap with someone, please let me know ASAP so I can update the schedule. Maura and I will support in the morning and afternoon whenever our schedule allows to provide additional supervision and support. Thank you for your support and flexibility. Click HERE to access the Google Doc schedule. You will get a copy in your box this week.
ADJUNCT DUTY | Teachers
If you need to make any adjustments to your adjunct duty selection the link is below. We are still in need of the following roles. Please consider supporting our students and TRE community in these incredibly important roles. Both roles are stipend positions. We can get you training and support if that's what is holding you back. Without a coach, we will be unable to offer these opportunities to our TRE students.
- Robotics Coach (stipend)
- Volleyball Coach (stipend)
I also need 1 more SSC rep if you are interested. Please review the adjunct duties - click HERE.
EQUIPMENT ROOM | Input Managers
3rd-5th grade teachers, please input your Equipment Room Managers on THIS document.
PTA SUPPORT & UPDATES
When you get a chance, please thank our new PTA board for sponsoring our staff shirts this year. What a gift to be able to provide a shirt to ALL staff as we are one TRE Ohana!
PTA's goal is to have 100% teacher participation for PTA membership ($15) in order to support all they do for our classes and TRE students. If you register for PTA membership by 8/31, you will get a Chick Fil A meal card. Click HERE to register.
As a reminder, teachers will get $50 to spend on their classrooms from PTA this year. They are asking that teachers spend this money early (Deadline: September 30th). Please note this is a shift from $100 to $50 due to a reduced PTA budget.
PAWS FOR CAUSE | JOIN THE PACK!
Below is the flier that you will place on each student desk at Back to School Night to help engage all of our families in joining PTA at some level. The class that gets the most members (by %) by August 31st, will earn a popsicle party. I also included the promotional information being shared by PTA on their website and Instagram. Help PTA by sharing with families at BTSN how much PTA does to support our student programs at TRE. If PTA goes above their fundraising goal of $40,000, more funds will come back into your classrooms and programs. Thank you ahead of time for your support!
RESTAURANT FUNDRAISER
Come support the TRE PTA at our first Restaurant Fundraiser on Saturday, August 30 at The Stand. 20% of your food and beverage purchase will go back to the TRE PTA. Make sure to bring the flyer or have a picture of it with you. If you plan to attend, please let your students know when you plan to be there. Your presence greatly helps encourage participation from families.
New this year - Attend a TRE Restaurant Fundraiser, take a selfie with our without students and tag TRE PTA on social media (or text it to Jen who will share it with PTA) and be entered into a raffle for a gift card from that restaurant following the fundraiser.

- Instead of having teachers attend a Grade Level Collaborative on August 11, we are "flipping" the information and creating a screencast and Google Form. This information is really important for teachers. We will be sharing important information and highlight changes for this school year with assessment, curriculum, and systems.
- This should take around 15 min. to watch the presentation and complete the Form.
- Teachers must be in Slideshow view to hear the information for each slide.
- Teachers push the spacebar to move to the next slide. The audio plays automatically.
- The Google form is linked to the last screen. It should take less than 2 minutes to complete the form.
