WHS Weekly Update- 9/18/26

Good afternoon,

We’ve officially made it through our first full week of school! On Tuesday, we held our annual Club Fair, giving students a chance to learn about the many opportunities available beyond the classroom. We encourage all of our students to find a club, activity, or organization that interests them and get involved. On Wednesday, we completed our first successful fire drill of the year—thank you to the Windham Fire Department for partnering with us to help ensure our students and staff are prepared and safe. And, on Thursday, we celebrated the 239th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution with an advisory activity focused on civil dialogue, giving students an opportunity to work together to create classroom charters.

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend as we look ahead to next week’s Blackout events, which bring our school community together in support of pediatric cancer research.

Reminders:

• Class Dues: Class dues are $20 and are collected each year to help fund class activities such as hallway and Spirit Week decorating, prom decorations, and senior-year activities. Class dues have been assigned to each student's PowerSchool account, which you access by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, clicking “Fee Balance” on the left-hand side, and clicking “Make a Payment”. You may also pay in person with a check made payable to “Windham High School”. Please make sure to include the student’s name and Class of … in the memo line, as well as on the envelope. In person payments may be given to class advisors or the main office. WHS is committed to ensuring that all students can participate in class events, if any family has a financial concern please reach out to your school counselor or Mrs. McKenna (smckenna@windhamsd.org).

• Class of 2027 Diploma Verification: Parents/Guardians of students in the Class of 2027, please log in to PowerHub to review and electronically sign the Diploma Name Verification Form for your student. The name listed on the form is the name currently in PowerSchool and is the name that will be printed on your student’s diploma. Please carefully review the information and verify that it is accurate. If any corrections are needed, please follow the instructions on the form. Please complete the verification by October 30, 2026.

• Class of 2027 Cap and Gowns: WHS provides caps and gowns for all graduates; however, to ensure accurate sizing graduates must request the cap and gowns through our online platform found here. Please submit your request by December 27, 2026.

• Sept. 21-23: Parent/Guardian PowerSchool Support Sessions (book one-on -one help sessions)

• Sept. 24: ASVAB testing for Gr. 11 from 9-11 am (for more information, please consult the WHS September Newsletter)

• Sept. 24: Homecoming tickets ($20) go on sale via Vanco events
