We’re grateful to the PTO and all the volunteers who carved pumpkins and brought the Great Pumpkin Patch to life! Special thanks to the Bull family for donating so many pumpkins and to the Francestown Police Department for your fantastic escort, ensuring everyone’s safety. Thank you to all the families who came out to cheer us on. It was a truly amazing day!

How Many Minutes Will We Read?
Can we do it again?
Last year, we read a total of 4,422 minutes during our month-long celebration of literacy. This year, we’re taking our reading adventure to “Camp Read-a-Lot”! Students are recording their reading minutes both at school and at home. You can track your minutes online on our read-a-thon website or using the paper sent home. I wonder how many more minutes we can read this year!
Minutes Read: 1,905
Bring the Kona Ice Truck and Programming to FES!
Francestown Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, October 7, 2024.
About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323831343236/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
Part of our Month of Literacy is to keep track of the number of minutes and books read. Please consider using the reading log sent home or logging minutes online. We announce the total number of minutes read everyday! You do not have to donate to participate!
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Francestown Elementary School

Good and Services
We started our week with finishing up our first science unit about animals. In this unit, we learned how to categorize and recognize animals by their different characteristics and not just how they look. Next, we started learning about goods and services – we read ‘If you give a Mouse a Cookie’ and found all the different goods and services in the story. Lastly, we ended our week with tons of Halloween fun!
Ms. Parisi's Third and Fourth Graders!
We Love That Dog
This week Ms. Parisi’s class had a lot of fun leading up to Halloween! We created spooky skeleton window art while we learned about the bones in a hand. We have been reading Love That Dog and analyzing all of Jack’s poems. We also got to read poems referenced in the book.
