Welcome Letter from Superintendent, Mr. Robert Mooney
August 28th, 2026
Dear Manville Families,
On behalf of the Manville Board of Education, I am thrilled to welcome everyone back for the 2026β2027 school year! I hope your summer offered plenty of time to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories with family and friends. As we gear up to open our doors to students on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, our entire team is looking forward to an inspiring year centered on student success, innovation, and strong community connections.
You can now access your childβs class schedule and homeroom assignment through Genesis. We encourage all families to review these details in advance and visit your respective schoolβs webpage for essential updates, school-specific procedures, and helpful resources for the start of the year. Please also take a moment to review the new NJ Bell-to-Bell Cellphone Law and the updated NJ E-Bike Law to ensure your student is prepared for these state-wide changes.
This fall, we are excited to introduce more than 17 new educators and support professionals across our district-including classroom teachers, administrators, substitutes, and specialized staff. Each brings a fresh perspective and a shared passion for delivering an exceptional educational experience. Throughout the summer, our faculty has collaborated extensively to refine coursework, expand academic offerings, and design engaging lessons for our students.
The Board of Education has set focused district goals that align with our strategic plan:
Improve instructional outcomes in math and ELA by providing targeted interventions and enrichment for all students, alongside dedicated coaching for teachers.
Reduce chronic absenteeism through continued district-wide initiatives.
Optimize learning environments by developing clear protocols to minimize distractions during instructional time.
Prepare students for the AI era by adopting a "Profile of a Graduate".
Establish clear guidelines for AI use in classroom instruction.
Please also note that adjustments have been made to the 2026-2027 school calendar, and the 2027-2028, 2028-2029 academic calendar have been officially approved. You can view calendars at your convenience on our district website.
Guided by our core promise - Every Child, Every Day - we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting every learner. Working hand-in-hand with our parents, dedicated staff, and local partners, I am confident that the 2026 - 2027 school year will be marked by remarkable growth and accomplishment across all of our schools.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Wishing all of our students a safe, rewarding, and remarkable school year ahead!
Warm regards,
Mr. Robert Mooney
Interim Superintendent
Welcoming Our New Educators!
The Manville School District proudly kicked off our New Certificated Staff Academy to prepare our newest educators for the upcoming 2026β2027 school year. This group of talented teachers spent time getting familiar with our district, learning about our community, and preparing their classrooms for students. We are thrilled to welcome them to the Manville family and look forward to the energy and passion they will bring to our schools!

NJβs βBell-to-Bellβ Cell Phone Law: What You Need to Know
Beginning with the 2026β2027 school year, New Jersey public schools are implementing a statewide policy requiring personal internet-enabled devicesβincluding smartphones and smartwatchesβto be put away βbell-to-bellβ (from morning arrival to final dismissal). Designed to minimize classroom distractions and boost student focus and well-being, the policy covers instructional time, lunch, and passing periods. Exceptions apply for medical needs, IEP/504 accommodations, and emergency situations. Look for local district updates in the coming weeks on how device storage will be handled at your childβs school!
Applying for meal benefits is a WIN-WIN!
Your family can save hundreds of dollars this year on school meals. School meals are offered at no cost to families that qualify. Every year, itβs important to complete the βSchool Meals and Summer EBT Applicationβ and return it to your school. The application lets your school know if your student is eligible for free or reduced-price school meals and helps your school receive additional funding!
Families that qualify for free school meals can also receive additional benefits such as discounted school fees.
Applying for free school meals is fast, easy, and secure. Obtain a paper application copy at your school or visit your school website to learn more. Lunch Applications are due by September 15th.
