Greetings,

As we finish our third week of school, students continue to build strong routines, connect with classmates and staff, and settle into the rhythm of middle school. We appreciate the positive energy students have brought to classrooms, hallways, and activities each day.

Please note that school will be closed on Monday, September 21. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday.

Looking ahead, several exciting events are on the calendar:

  • Thursday, September 24: School Picture Day
  • Friday, September 25: Club and Activity Fair

The Club and Activity Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about the many ways they can get involved at Springton Lake. We encourage every student to explore an activity, club, or team that matches their interests. Sixth-grade students are also encouraged to sign up for intramural opportunities, which offer a fun way to stay active, meet new students, and build friendships.

With gratitude,

Principal Buterbaugh

School Pictures School Pictures

Thank you for having us at Springton Lake Middle School for the 2026 school year.

Paper flyers will be mailed to the school shortly for School Pictures scheduled on 09/24/2026.

Please note: The jpeg of the web banner has the access code embedded in it for your school to be able to put on the school’s website for parents to access the storefront ordering site.

Please share this banner with your families so that they have the opportunity to pre-order a picture package.

What to expect on picture day

  1. When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
  2. If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
  3. A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
  4. When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.

All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.

To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.

Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!

Attendance Attendance

Regular school attendance is essential for success in school and contributes to the development of good work habits, a sense of responsibility, and self-discipline.

Call our Absentee Voicemail Hotline (610-627-6500, ext. 2) each day the student is absent. Absence is the non-attendance of a student on those days in which school is in session.

  • In addition to the telephone call, a written note, or completing this FORM indicating the reason for the absence must be submitted upon the student’s return to school.

All families will continue to receive an automated telephone call whenever a student is marked absent in homeroom. The call will be sent regardless if you have called the attendance hotline. This is an enhanced safety procedure that we are pleased to have available.

Band

The Philadelphia Phillies have invited the Penncrest Marching Band to participate in their Phillies Band Night on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 6:40 pm. This is both a fundraiser for the band and a competition to see which high school sells the most tickets.

The band will march in a parade down Citizens Bank Way and then play in a concert about an hour before the game. And if our high school sells the most tickets, our band will also get to perform on the field before the game! We have won this competition for the last decade and would like to continue the winning streak.

Tickets are $45 each. Tickets are on sale until Saturday, September 12th. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Penncrest Band

You do not need to have a PayPal account to make a donation. You can check out as guest and make your payment safely with a credit card.

Ticket pick up will be at Penncrest HS Parking lot (outside of the band room - near the lion statue):

  • Tuesday, September 15: 6 - 8 PM

  • Wednesday, September 16: 6 - 8 PM

This is a great opportunity for the kids to perform and help raise money for the band. As an added bonus, the Phillies are on a hot streak so it should be a great game to watch!!

Purchase your tickets here

**Any questions, please email info@penncrestband.org.
