Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week!
May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we're more than excited to celebrate the educators who, day in and day out, strive to put our Vikings toward paths of success. Aside from a host of activities planned this week to recognize and honor the work they do, check out what our students had to say to thank their teachers in a special way.
P.S. Today Is Also School Nurses Day!
We also celebrate our school nurses, Ms. Parker and Ms. Leak, who go above and beyond when a student may not feel their best, or just needs a little extra care during the school day.
Seniors, Decision Day Is This Friday!
This Friday, May 10, we'll recognize and celebrate our Viking Seniors making their post-secondary plans official! Seniors, be sure to stop by the South Gym during Periods 3, 4 and 5. Whether you've opted for the trades, military, college/university, gap year or otherwise, we want to hear all about it!
Don't forget to stop by the alumni table for exciting giveaways and a chance to win a limited-edition alumni basket! Be sure to wear apparel that represents your post-secondary choice!
P.S. Complete This Google Form for Senior Shout Outs
As we prepare to celebrate your post-HF plans, please complete this form by Thursday, May 9, so we can shout you out on HF social media (@hfhs59).

Save the Date: Superintendent Search Focus Group
HF Superintendent Dr. Scott Wakeley announced his retirement during a faculty meeting last month. Effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year, Dr. Wakeley will conclude his education career that spans 34 years, including 20 years as a superintendent, with four of those leading Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233.
The Board of Education has contracted with The Alma Advisory Group to conduct a search for our next Superintendent of Schools. A major part of the process is seeking input from stakeholders on the characteristics they would like to see in our next leader.
The "What's Your Vision for the Future of HF" engagement process includes several opportunities for community members to meet with The Alma Advisory Group consultant. Please mark your calendars for these opportunities. We hope you will join us to share your thoughts!
NEW: Walking the Path with Emmy-Winning Alum Scott Adametz
