Curriculum Corner
Mrs. Broughton’s 4/5 homeroom has been up to many things! One thing they have been doing is embroidering fabric state designs for the state map in Ms. Jenny’s room. (Thank you Ms. Jenny for teaching this skill!) Also, they have been completing math tests, checkpoints, a state quiz, and a writing assessment. They sure have been busy studying!
They have been learning about the pros and cons of history. Specifically, they learned about the explorers and positive change-makers. Some examples of these positive change makers include Martin Luther King Jr., Irena Sendler, Anne Frank, Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, Malala Yousafsai, Wilma Rudolph, Dr. Salk, and Nelson Mandela! They researched these people and wrote essays about them. They have also enjoyed their time in specials. Students have been helping Ms. Abby design the library. Additionally, they helped Ms. Kali peel potatoes and apples for the Thanksgiving lunch!
We are looking forward to our next field trip after break to Foster Brothers Farm and Vermont Natural Ag Products. Another thing they are looking forward to is earning a class celebration day before the December winter break.
