Online Registration / Data Confirmation
All families must complete data confirmation, also known as registration. This is where families update contact information, opt in or out of things like media releases, and acknowledge existing district policies. The process is entirely online through the Aeries parent portal, accessible at parent.ousd.org.
For additional info and tutorials on the data registration process, review the links below:

First Day of School
Monday, August 11th
If you are driving, remember to drop off and pick up in the back parking lot off of Scout Road (not at the front of the school) and follow the traffic flow map.
Parking is limited in the back Montera lot and drop off/pick up is more congested during the first week of school. Please plan ahead, leave extra time, and be patient with others.
On the first day of school (Mon. August 11, 2025) information on students' 1st Period Class will be posted outside the MUR.
Students will proceed to their 1st Period classroom. Students will get their Regular Class Schedules in their 1st period class. From there, students will proceed to periods 2 -8.
Caregivers are welcome to walk their student(s) to class before 9:10 AM.
The campus opens at 8:30 AM for drop-off. The 1st bell (warning bell) rings at 9:10 AM. Students must be in their classes, focused and ready to learn, by the time the 2nd bell (tardy bell) rings at 9:15 AM.
Montera teachers, staff, and volunteers will be located throughout the campus to help students find their first class.
The first week of school is a special schedule: all 8 classes rather than the block schedule on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with normal hours of 9:15am-3:30pm. Wednesday, like every Wednesday, is a minimum day ending at 1:50 pm. Wednesdays alternate "A" Block (periods 1-4) and "B" Block (periods 5-8). We have "A" Block this week.
Check out Toro Tips for more information and answers to your questions.
Important School Information
Cell Phone & Electronics Policy
Cell phones, earphones, and other electronic devices must be placed in your locker between the hours of 9:10am to 3:30pm (regular days) and 1:50pm (minimum days). Not following the policy means that your electronic device will be confiscated by an adult. Please review the details of the policy here.
Dress Code Policy
Bus Schedules and Information
Lockers
Students who didn't attend Summer Bridge or Registration will get locker assignments during the first two weeks of school.
TIP: If you're buying a new lock, we recommend buying a pair of matching locks with the same combination, since you'll need one for your PE locker as well and that way there's only one combo to remember.

Travel Opportunities
Our inaugural first trip to Italy this summer was a great success! We got to experience several different regions in Italy, learned some Italian phrases, ate some delicious food, and saw a lot of iconic Italian sites! It is now time to kick off a new school year with new, exciting travel opportunities!
- All past, present, and future travelers: Please join Travel Club at Montera when we have club sign-ups. Get to know other travelers. Have some fun cultural experiences. Hear from past travelers. Try foods from other countries. Share your own travel adventures. See Ms. Recco or Dr. Emrick for more information.
- For 2025-26 7th Graders: We are now turning our attention to this year's Travel Club trip to Japan! We still have a few (limited!) spots left. Please contact Ms. Recco or Dr. Emrick if you are interested! We will be having a mandatory in-person informational meeting on Thursday, August 21, at 4:30 in room 303 at Montera to discuss some short "practice" local field trips to help students prepare for the big trip and to share important updates about our upcoming trip. Please plan to attend if your student is traveling on this trip. Parents, you can contact us at rebecca.recco@ousd.org or isaac.emrick@ousd.org
- For 2025-26 6th Graders: We are going to start discussing our Summer 2027 Trip -- location TBD! Where do you want to travel? So far, we have had requests for England, Korea, and Costa Rica! See Ms. Recco or Dr. Emrick if you are interested. Parents, you can contact us at rebecca.recco@ousd.org or isaac.emrick@ousd.org. Stay tuned for an announcement about our kick-off meeting.
