Spring Conferences
Spring Conferences are coming up on Tuesday, February 27th and Tuesday, March 5th. Both nights will be in-person from 3:30-7:30. Check your email for a sign up link to meet with your student's teachers. We will have many other resources available for families that night, we hope you take this opportunity to connect with us.
Hidden In Plain Sight
We encourage all adults to stop by room A313 outside of the Red Wing for the Hidden In Plain Sight exhibit. Because this program is for adults only, Project Reach Out will be hosting an activity for students. We are grateful this opportunity has been brought to our school for both conference nights.
Art Show
Our main hallway will be lined with student artwork. Make sure to stop and view our students' masterpieces. Thank you to art teachers, Mrs. Tharp and Ms. Fitzpatrick for organizing this beautiful display.
Treats for Teachers
Our community wants to show their support for teachers during conference nights. Culver's, DSC Communications, and SWL&P have generously funded dinner through Mama T's for both evenings. Our PTSA is organizing a sign up to help families provide desserts. Want to help? Find their sign up HERE to bring in a treat. If you'd rather make a monetary donation, and let our PTSA do the shopping/delivering, they have that option HERE.
Transition…change…growing up…
These are all words that bring butterflies to the stomachs of parents and caregivers. It is hard to watch our children grow up so quickly. On February 5 and 6, our 8th graders registered for their high school classes. On May 28, 29 and 30 our 5th graders will be touring SMS, getting acquainted with their future school community. On May 31 our high school seniors will walk across that stage and into their futures. The common theme with all of these milestones is that our kids need us, they need the adults in their lives to help guide them through these transitions. The difference is now the adults are a step behind, lingering back just a bit more, leading a bit more from the sidelines. This work is just as important as when our kids were just starting school, maybe even more. This is a busy time of year for our students and for their families. We encourage you to slow down and try to soak in THIS moment, THIS stage of your child(ren)’s development. We might not ever get these moments back but we have many more moments to look forward to.
Attendance Matters!
Class starts each day with students in classrooms by 7:55am. The warning bell rings at 7:50am. To see if your child has been tardy to any of their classes, check PowerSchool to view your child’s attendance. If you see any errors, please contact Ms. Charity.

Healthy Minute
BE KIND
With so much negativity within the school walls, outside of school, on social media or in the news in general, it’s so easy to forget the basics. Spreading kindness has positive health benefits. Some simple ways to spread kindness include:
Be polite to peers and adults
Say hi to/make friends with students other than your usual friend group
Smile
Give compliments
Help others when they need help
Please Be Kind, you never know what another person is going through.
Can you even believe this weather? Here are some local activities to do this weekend. Get out and enjoy it while we can!
