Message from Mr. Imbusch

Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

Learning is about more than understanding something in the moment; it is about retaining that knowledge and being able to retrieve and apply it when we need it. Memory and retention are fundamental to building lasting knowledge, developing skills, and making connections across subjects. Understanding how our brains learn, remember, and forget can help students become more effective learners and help teachers make informed decisions about instruction. The following activity explores the science of memory and offers insights into strategies that can strengthen learning over time.

Test Yourself on Memory and Retention – Take this 12-item quiz from Edutopia on how we store and recall knowledge and skills – neurons, the “forgetting curve,” working memory, spaced practice, multitasking, learning styles, the retrieval effect, mental storage capacity, and sleep.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Stephen Imbusch

Principal

PAC Meeting - Wednesday October 21st @ 7pm PAC Meeting - Wednesday October 21st @ 7pm

It’s time for the first PAC meeting of the year! All parents and guardians are invited to join us on October 21st at 7pm in the Media Center. This is a great opportunity to learn about the latest happenings at Walpole High School.

Principal Imbusch will update us on the start of school, including a tour of the construction project.

If you have any questions prior to the meeting, please email whspac@walpole.k12.ma.us.

What does the PAC do?

The major activities the PAC supports are related to Staff Appreciation. This year we welcomed staff back with a visit from Palagis ice cream truck. We periodically restock the staff room and will provide breakfast treats on one of the professional development days. Our big annual event is a fun luncheon celebration for all staff in May.

We do not run traditional fundraising efforts. Our annual budget comes from the generosity of our WHS families. Your contributions are always welcome. Please consider making a family donation: Venmo @Whs-Donations (include “PAC donation” in the notes) or by check (payable to WHS PAC and send to the office). Thank you for your support!

Future PAC meeting dates - mark your calendar!

March 10th – Learning about the WHS course selection process

April 27th – The college planning process; parent panel discussion

Looking forward to seeing many of you on October 21st.
