Pride Preview Vol. 35
Week of Monday, May 4 - Friday, May 8, 2026
Principal's Message
This week is about pausing to recognize the impact you make every single day.
I see the preparation, the adjustments, and the relationships you build with students. And more importantly—our students feel it.
In our recent student survey, every area increased from the last survey—with teaching and learning reaching 94% favorable (+5), classroom climate at 89% (+4), engagement at 86% (+3), and teacher-student relationships at 91% (+2).
Even more, these results outperformed our feeder pattern, our district, and 98% of elementary schools in the United States—a reflection of what you create in your classrooms every day.
Because of you, students are learning.
Because of you, they feel seen.
Because of you, they are growing every day.
Thank you for showing up with consistency, care, and high expectations. Your work matters, and it does not go unnoticed.

📖 DISTRICT NEWS
New Two-Way Communication
The district will launch the final phase, the two-way communications known as Rooms, on April 27. Rooms will allow teachers to communicate via messaging with their students and their parents in their language of choice and is already built right into the district app and the website.
The app now serves as a central hub for messages, events, lunch menus, and more. Campus teams will continue managing calls, texts, and emails as before. Rooms also gives parents one place for communication across multiple schools, with automatic message notifications and built-in safety features.
This is about more than convenience. It’s about giving families a consistent, reliable experience—every time they hear from us. To learn more about the key features of Rooms, click here.
Getting Started:
Log into Rooms via the Dallas ISD Portal (SSO).
Complete the orientation checklist (desktop/laptop required).
Send an introductory message to families.
Optionally download the Apptegy Staff app for mobile use.
💻 END-OF-YEAR TECHNOLOGY UPDATES
- Student Devices & Chromebooks: To ensure all devices are properly collected for summer maintenance, student devices must remain on campus now that our main STAAR testing windows are wrapping up. For the last two weeks of school, any students who still need a device for assignments should use a shared campus device.
- Classroom Display Prep (DUE FRIDAY, MAY 8): All classroom digital displays (Promethean/Newline boards) will undergo a mandatory district software update on May 8. Before you leave for the summer, please prepare your displays by:
- Unplugging all cords from the wall or your laptop and wrapping them securely to the back of the cart.
- Ensuring the display screen is facing away from windows and out of direct sunlight.
- Clearly labeling all your remotes and pens so they stay with your specific board.
INSTRUCTION
Save the Date: You are invited to Lipscomb's 5th Grade Exhibition
IB PYPx Mentors!
Thank you to all teachers who've volunteered to be a mentor for the 5th Grade Exhibition. An email was shared with your student group, their topic, and sample probing and support questions to ask for each step.
OPERATIONS
Attendance & Work Hours
As we return from Spring Break, we will be closely monitoring attendance and work hours procedures. Please ensure absences are entered in Frontline in advance and sub plans are updated.
Indoor Recess & Laptop Usage
District-issued laptops are for instructional use only. Students should not be using laptops during indoor recess or other non-instructional times. Please actively monitor and enforce this expectation.
