Kennedy Families,
It's hard to believe, but the end of the school year is just around the corner! This week marks our final 18 days, and we have some exciting events planned to finish strong, including field trips, Field Day, and 5th-grade graduation.
This year has certainly been filled with unique and memorable moments. From being recognized as an ESEA Distinguished School for our work in closing the achievement gap to navigating unexpected events like a car incident and a day without electricity, it's been quite a journey. Throughout it all, our dedicated Kennedy teachers have remained focused on the academic and social-emotional well-being of our students. We've been so impressed by the growth our students have shown and the great academic heights they've reached.
Last week, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, and it was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the incredible educators we have at Kennedy. We are truly fortunate to have such a caring and diligent team of teachers who are deeply invested in the success of their students. I am incredibly proud of the positive and engaging learning environments they create for our Cubs. They are an amazing group!
I am looking forward to a fantastic final 18 days of school as we celebrate our students' accomplishments and enjoy these last few weeks together.

Two surveys were recently shared out with all Kennedy families via email. The Title I survey closed on Friday, May 9th but the Panorama Family Survey is still open. Please consider taking a few minutes to complete it. Below is a portion of the email I sent to families on May 2nd.

We're excited to share the results of the South Central Minnesota Math Masters Regional Competition held at Bethany Lutheran College on April 25th. Over 320 talented 4th and 5th graders from 19 area schools participated in this event, hosted by South Central Service Cooperative and Math Masters of Minnesota.
Kennedy sent four teams to the competition, and all of our students represented our school with great effort and enthusiasm. They were coached by Mr. Winning.
In the 5th grade competition:
- The team of Daxtin Hacker, Grayson Ward, Grayson Benrud, Bryce Willett, and Logan Jennings achieved a commendable first place.
- The team of Lee Olinger, Halla Yer, Ava Kapsner, Parker Weckworth, and Logan Niles finished in 8th place.
- In the Fact Drill portion, Daxton Hacker, Logan Jennings, and Logan Niles tied for 3rd place, and Grayson Benrud finished in 9th place.
- In the individual score category, Logan Niles achieved the 3rd highest score, and Logan Jennings had the 8th highest score.
In the 4th grade competition:
- The team of Luke Julian, Jonah Rustad, Mack Wills, Ethan Kelley, and Sean Wynn also earned first place.
- The team of Passion Thao, Elise Crampton, Dmitri Wilhelm, Liam Suarez-Anderson, and Odin Zimansky finished in 4th place.
- In the Fact Drill portion, Jonah Rustad finished in 1st place, Ethan Kelley finished in 2nd place, Luke Julian and Sean Wynn tied for 3rd place, and Dmitri Wilhelm finished in 8th place.
- In the individual score category, Ethan Kelley achieved the 3rd highest score, Dmitri Wilhelm had the 5th highest score, Sean Wynn had the 6th highest score, and Jonah Rustad had the 10th highest score.
We are very proud of all of our Math Masters students for their participation and achievements. Thank you for representing Kennedy so well!
