A Note From Dr. Dempsey
I’m honored to serve as the guest writer for this week’s message and to share some reflections as we continue the second nine weeks of the school year. This is a wonderful time to pause and think about the importance of community, the value of relationships, and the fresh start that each new quarter brings.
A new grading period offers all of us—students and staff alike—a chance to reset, refocus, and set new goals. It’s a time to celebrate the progress we’ve made and to look ahead with renewed purpose, positivity, and possibility.
At the heart of our school community are the relationships we build with one another. Each day offers countless opportunities to connect—and when we choose to look for the good, to speak with kindness, and to assume positive intent, we strengthen the sense of belonging that defines our school. Whether it’s a kind word in the hallway, teamwork in the classroom, or support during a tough day, every positive interaction makes a difference.
This quarter, we are focusing on positivity and kindness with our students. As friendships grow and students become more comfortable with one another, it’s especially important to reinforce respect, empathy, and understanding. This focus aligns perfectly with National Bullying Awareness Month and Red Ribbon Week, both of which remind us of the power of positive choices and the importance of supporting one another.
We invite families to join us in encouraging these same positive habits at home. When students hear consistent messages about kindness, empathy, and making good choices—both at school and at home—they develop the confidence and character to lead with respect and compassion.
Tips for Seeking the Positive Every Day:
Start with gratitude: Take a moment each morning to name one thing you’re thankful for.
Use kind words: Speak encouragement—to others and to yourself.
Look for the good: Notice small moments of success, progress, or kindness throughout the day.
Assume positive intent: Believe the best about others’ words and actions; it fosters understanding and builds trust.
Choose connection: Smile, listen, and engage with others—positive energy is contagious.
End on a high note: Reflect each evening on one positive moment or lesson learned.
Parent engagement remains a vital part of our thriving community. When families and schools work together with positivity and trust, students benefit in every way—academically, socially, and emotionally. Your involvement—whether through attending events, checking in on your student’s progress, or simply staying connected—sends a powerful message that education matters and that we are all in this together.
Thank you for all you do to support our students, our staff, and our shared mission. Let’s carry this spirit of positivity and collaboration forward and make the second nine weeks a time of meaningful growth, new relationships, and continued success.
In Pride and Purpose,
Dr. Christy Dempsey
