Week 30

Dear MUMS community,

We’re soaking up every moment of spring here at school! Students have been enjoying plenty of time outside this week, making the most of the beautiful weather. Our athletic teams have been showing their school spirit in competitions, and despite the weather, our 6th graders had an outstanding day at Fort Ticonderoga yesterday!

As we wrap up the week, everyone is looking forward to tonight's dance. As always, it’s sure to be a great time! As you drop off and pick up your students, please be mindful of the large number of students walking to and from the dance and adhere to our traffic signals and signs so that everyone remains safe during these two busy times.

We also want to let families know that we’ve discovered some formatting errors in a few third quarter report cards, which resulted in some subjects being left off completely. If your student’s report card is missing information and you would like us to send you a corrected copy by email or mail, please contact Megan Curran at mcurran@acsdvt.org. Additionally, the errors have been corrected in the portal so if you want to look there, you can will see all subject grades reflected. Thank you for your understanding, your partnership, and for all you do to support our school community.

Have a great weekend!

Best,

Michaela Wisell ~ Principal

From the MYP Coordinator

Greetings MUMS Caregivers!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." — Margaret Mead

How will MUMS students change the world? Our 8th graders are currently engaged in an Individuals and Societies unit centered on Citizenship and Activism. Students are grappling with questions like “What methods can people use to make change if their rights are not being respected?”, “How can everyday citizens be effective agents of change within their community?”, and “What are the best and most effective ways to create change?” After spending some time exploring different avenues of civic engagement (like volunteerism, voting, advocacy and more) students are beginning their own activism summative project. Students will research a current issue of their choice and then create an action plan to raise awareness, take action, or make change. Students wrap up this project with some reflection on their learning, successes and challenges. We can’t wait to see what kinds of issues and action plans the students come up with!

💡Talk to your student: What current issues in our society do they think about most? At the school level? Town level? National or global level? How can everyday people create change in a community?

Shoreham/Cornwall bus caveats

Please use the "button" above to preview our ACSD bus routes.

Also please note a few caveats that impact students who ride Cornwall or Shoreham buses home.

Cornwall and Shoreham buses do not come to MUMS at pick-up time. Students who ride those buses must take a shuttle from MUMS to MUHS to meet their bus.

Cornwall students use the Bridport bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Cornwall bus at the High school to ride home.
Shoreham students use the Weybridge bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Shoreham bus at the High school to ride home.
