Exchange Day Opportunities For ALL!
Based on feedback, LISD is expanding the opportunity for all teaching staff to earn an exchange day. Exchange days are the ability to take off on one or more designated professional learning days during the school year in exchange for participation in professional learning sessions during the summer.
In preparation for the 2025-26 school year, LISD will
- continue the practice of required summer training for specified content areas/programs that have significant program shifts that necessitate learning before the school year, AND
allow all teaching staff to earn a day off on a specified professional learning day by participating in the learning of their choice during the summer.

Based on your requests, we are partnering with Lead4Ward to offer workshops on the high-demand topics of: classroom management and learner engagement. Check out the session details below!
- Classroom Management that Works: Building Engagement and Support for All Learners (offered May 28 and July 23)
This session addresses classroom management strategies for creating positive, engaging learning environments. Designed for new, alternatively certified, and experienced teachers seeking a refresher, the workshop covers four essential components: building positive relationships with students through intentional culture-building; addressing behaviors proactively through clear expectations, simple solutions to disruptions, and engaging activities; implementing student-centered instruction using lead4ward's strategies playlist; and efficiently managing classroom space and materials. Engaging Learners (offered June 4 and July 23)
This workshop introduces lead4ward's low-prep/high-yield instructional resources that create dynamic learning environments. Participants will learn practical strategies to engage students in academic vocabulary, visual analysis, text comprehension, and critical thinking through interactive activities that can be implemented immediately. The session demonstrates how these resources complement existing curriculum while addressing classroom management, teacher evaluation criteria, and student engagement through four key tools: instructional strategies playlist, quickchecks, think it up questions, and thinking stems. These approaches are designed to increase student achievement, build teacher capacity, enhance Tier 1 instruction, and infuse engagement across all aspects of teaching.
Lit Love Symposium
