Dear McKelvey Community,

It is crazy to believe that we only have approximately 6 weeks left in the 2023-2024 school year. Parents, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your support this year. You are all vital to the success of our students!

I have to send a special shout-out to our amazing PTO! I am inspired by how you help create, celebrate and support our school! To stay updated on PTO programming and events, follow McKelvey PTO on Facebook!

Finally, I want you to know how proud I am of the entire staff at McKelvey Intermediate. Just know that your children are in the best hands. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or stop by the office.

Thanks for all of your support!

Families - Your child should have brought home a Health opt-out form regarding the upcoming Health curriculum in Physical Education class. This form only needs to be signed and returned if you are deciding to OPT-OUT of any of the lessons. Otherwise, it is not necessary to return the form.

Thank You ~ Mr. Tesson & Mrs. Grooms

McKelvey Families,

Field Day is fast approaching! It will be held this year on Friday, May 17th and there are 2 ways that you can help!

  1. VOLUNTEER! We need parents to help out that day by running the various stations. In order to do this, you must be a Parkway Approved Volunteer (Click HERE now if you have not yet started the process!). If you are already an Approved Volunteer, SIGN UP by clicking this LINK!
  2. PURCHASE SUPPLIES! Please click HERE to review the items PE could use to help run a fun and successful Field Day 2024! If you can donate, please sign up and purchase the items to be sent directly to school - PE Department, 1751 McKelvey Road, Maryland Heights, MO 63143. Or send the items to school with your child to drop off.

These are just suggestions on where to purchase the items. Please contact Mr. Tesson mtesson3@parkwayschools.net or Ms. Grooms jgrooms@parkwayschools.net if you found a similar item and want to confirm it's what is needed.

Please have items to school by Monday, May 6.

Thank You!!

Things to think about before the end of the year~

  • All medication must be picked up by a parent before the last day of school. We are not allowed to send medication home with students.
  • New physician orders, asthma action plans, allergy action plans, orders for over the counter medications need to be redone every school year. If you have doctor appointments over the summer, it is a good idea to have these filled out at that time.
  • Please send any updated immunization records, history and physicals, new diagnosis, medication etc to the nurse so we can keep your student's medical information updated.
  • Any orders for this school year do carry over to the summer school program, but we do need new documents for the 24-25 school year.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Jane Sinnott, BSN, RN

Be a part of something special! The McKelvey Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is made up of the parents of all the students at both McKelvey schools (K-5) and all teachers. We work together for the benefit of students to plan events, fundraisers, volunteer, take care of our teachers, and provide amazing resources to enhance our student learning. In short - the PTO helps make McKelvey awesome!

As a parent/guardian of a McKelvey Dragon, you are automatically a member. Please get involved as much as you are able. There are many ways, big and small, to connect and contribute to our school community. PTO's general meetings are led by our PTO Board, a small group of elected parents and teacher representatives. All are invited, and meetings are a great place to share your voice and hear the voices of others. If have any questions, please contact McKelvey PTO at mckelveypto@gmail.com.

Follow us on Facebook! To stay updated on PTO programming and events, follow McKelvey PTO on Facebook! Already a member? Please invite your McKelvey friends to join the page too!

Volunteering at School

The success of our students would not be possible without the involvement and support of parents and the community. We love to connect with families in as many ways possible throughout the school year. Get a head start on approval for field trips, working in the library, or assisting with classroom projects by completing Parkway's required steps for volunteering at school. We look forward to seeing you in our school this coming year!

For New Volunteers - CLICK HERE to start the approval process.

For Returning Volunteers - Every July, Parkway resets all of our volunteer accounts to renewal required. Your background information is good for up to six years from the time you completed it with MACHS as long as you stay active as a volunteer from year to year. Therefore, there are only a few steps you need to complete as a returning volunteer. Please CLICK HERE to begin.
