Visual Arts- Ms. Gadek

5th grade students are learning how to create depth in their artwork by using foreground, middle ground, and background to show space and tell visual stories. The 6th–8th grade students are diving into exciting choice-based art projects that allow them to take ownership of their learning and creativity. Students are selecting themes, materials, and techniques that match their interests while applying key art concepts such as color, composition, and craftsmanship. This approach encourages independence, problem-solving, and creative confidence as students plan, create, and reflect on their work. We are so proud of the thoughtful risks they are taking and the unique artwork coming to life in the art room!

Artsonia

**There are still some students who do not have a spiral notebook for this class. The notebook facilitates the instruction, and when a student doesn’t have it, that has a negative effect on the child’s score. All students should have a spiral notebook that they keep in class.

Physical Education- Mr. Taylor

We will begin our floor hockey unit due to the weather seeming like ice hockey. We will learn rules, regulations and strategies of the game as well as play full court games team vs team.

Fridays are our combined gym class free choice day where we combine our gym class with the other gym class, in order for the kids to be able to play with their friends from other classes. The kids can pick one of the two gyms depending and the activity they want to participate in. Activities will vary each week to keep it different for the kids.

Physical Education- Mr. Williamson

We will be playing floor hockey in the aux gym. Please wear sneakers on PE days. We start with fitness warm up including laps around the court or outside at the track, dynamic stretching, and sharks/ minnows tag game. We’ll then participate in a variety of lessons including dodgeball, tennis, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, soccer, and kickball, badminton/pickle ball. I’m excited to see our Pirates discovering the benefits of an active lifestyle. Fridays are combined classes with choices of activities in either gym.
