Superintendent's Weekly Update

Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,

This week we welcomed our entire staff back to school for an official kick-off in the Maria Weston Chapman Middle School Auditorium, and the energy and excitement was nothing short of infectious. There was just one thing missing, our students, and we're elated to bring everyone back together to do what we do best as educators this school year.

This year we will remain focused on engagement, equity and empowerment as the catalyst to propel teaching and learning, and improve every student's educational experience. We are focused on transformational teaching that has the opportunity to create a significant impact on not just one student, but every student.

As a reminder, the first day of school for grades 1-12 is a half-day on Tuesday, September 6, and the first day for Kindergarten students is Thursday, September 8. Tuesday is also voting day, so we would like to remind any families and/or staff members who are driving to school on Tuesday to exercise caution. Please plan for delays due to increased traffic at pickup and drop-off times, especially if your child's school is a polling location. School safety is always our top priority. Any school that serves as a polling location will have a police officer on site.

Information related to bus routes, food services, and family resources is included below. Additionally, you can expect to hear from your building principals weekly with any new and important information.

Lastly, please enjoy the welcome back video produced by the Wildcat Media Club in appreciation of our staff and in anticipation of their return to school this week. Thank you, Wildcat Media Club!

We are incredibly excited to welcome back our staff and grades 1-12 students to school on Tuesday (as well as our Kindergarten students on Thursday, and PreK students the following Monday) to kick off the 2022-2023 school year. Enjoy the long weekend!
