Fall is in the air!

Celebrating our first full pom pom jar!

We were excited to celebrate all around the school this week: each classroom had their own celebration, and we enjoyed cookies and lemonade for all this afternoon as we acknowledged all of the hard work students have done in the first few weeks of school, learning and practicing school expectations. RVS is a great place to "bee" for students and staff alike! Big thanks to some of our third graders for helping to deliver snacks to all of our classrooms.

Dates to Remember

Our first early release day of the year will be Monday, September 25th.
Picture Day is coming, Wednesday September 27th. You should have already received information from Tina about ordering photos from Ember Photography - if you have not, please email tinayoung@mpsvt.org for info.
Fall Open House will be on Thursday, September 28th from 5 - 6 PM. All families are encouraged to come see your child's classroom, meet their teachers, and hear all about their days at school!
The Montpelier Roxbury PIE (Partners in Education) will host the Fall Festival and Fun Run on Sunday, October 1st from 12:00 - 4:00. This is a fantastic event featuring live music, lots of activities for kids, face painting, and even a "celebrity dunk tank" with some familiar faces... maybe even from RVS! Hope to see you there.

Extracurricular clubs and community events:

The Arts Bus is coming!! Meet at the Roxbury Free Library at 10:00 on Saturday, Sept 23. Climb aboard and help create a community art puzzle tree. No reservations required!

Camp Meade in Middlesex is hosting a number of after school and weekend art and music programs, including glassmaking, robot drawing and printmaking, and nature drawing for kids. To find info on specific classes, visit their webpage here: https://campmeade.today/art-and-music-programs.

September Reading Challenge

Students in grades 1-4 are participating in a reading challenge for the month: BINGO! (Kinders, don't worry - you will complete a challenge with your class!). Look for BINGO sheets coming home today with different book categories to read. Kids are encouraged to think about their challenges as they visit the library on Fridays. Families are welcome to get involved: students have been asked to read on their own, with someone, or by listening! Readers should bring their boards back to school on Friday, September 29th for a prize. Happy reading!

Seeking used costumes!

The MRPS PIE is looking for your donations for an upcoming costume swap. You can drop any well-loved costumes in our donation box in the front lobby of RVS until 9/28, when they will be transported to Montpelier.

The following Sunday, join us for the 1st Annual Costume Swap at Montpelier Fall Festival! Come pick out your new costume and enjoy all the MFF activities on Oct. 1st from 12 - 4pm at the State House Lawn. (Donations to MRPS PIE are appreciated but not required.)

For the first time, MRPS PIE is seeking a part-time Executive Director to continue to build the organization's day to day operations, support the MRPS PIE Caregiver groups, build and support the MRPS PIE board, be a strong advocate for our students, and develop a strong fundraising strategy.
