Principal's Note
Our school was thrilled to welcome author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds for an inspiring visit! Peter shared where his ideas come from, how he turns those ideas into stories, and how art can begin with something as simple as a dot. Inspired by his beloved book The Dot, he showed us how amazing things can be born from a single mark by transforming a simple scribble into a wonderful drawing right before our eyes! Peter also read his book When You Dream Big and encouraged us to write down our dreams, believe in ourselves, persevere through challenges, and never give up on the things we hope to achieve. His message reminded us that big dreams often begin with one small step! A huge thank you to our PTO and to our families who purchased tiles through our fundraiser. Your support made this special visit possible, and we are so grateful!

Nurse's Notes
Health Screenings: We will be conducting health screenings the last week in October. These screenings help identify potential health concerns that may affect your child’s ability to learn and participate fully in school. These screenings are not diagnostic, but rather a tool to help identify students who may benefit from further evaluation by their healthcare provider. If a concern is identified, you will be notified in writing and encouraged to follow up with your child’s physician. Vision Screening: All students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 5
Hearing Screening: All students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 3
Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening: All students in grades 1 and 4
Parents/guardians who do not wish their child to participate in one or more of these screenings must send a written request (letter or email) to the school nurse.
Update Health Information: Please make sure to update any changes to your child’s health information, including allergies, medications, and emergency contact details. Thank you to all the parents who have already submitted their children’s physicals and immunization records! If you haven’t done so yet, please remember to submit them as soon as possible. Physicals are required for students in Kindergarten and Fourth Grade.
The Ram’s Closet – Student Support Resource
Ram’s Closet is located in the health clinic. This space provides access to essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, non-perishable snacks, water bottles, and other basic supplies. As student needs continue, we are seeking additional donations to help keep The Ram’s Closet stocked. If you’d like to support this, please consider donating through our Amazon Wish List
Fall Health Reminders: we are beginning to see some cases of influenza (flu) in our school community. This is a good time to review simple steps we can all take to help keep our children, families, and school community healthy
Consider getting a flu vaccine. Annual flu vaccination is recommended for most people ages 6 months and older and is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of flu and its complications.
Encourage frequent handwashing. Remind children to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after coughing, sneezing, or using the restroom.
Cover coughs and sneezes. Encourage children to cough or sneeze into a tissue or their elbow rather than their hands.
Avoid touching the eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs can spread when contaminated hands come into contact with the face.
Keep frequently touched surfaces clean. Regular cleaning of commonly touched household surfaces can help reduce the spread of germs.
Support healthy habits. Adequate sleep, nutritious meals, physical activity, and plenty of fluids all support overall health.
Guidelines for return to school after an illness
For fever over 100 degrees, your child must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, to return to school
For vomiting and/or diarrhea, your child must wait 24 hours after the last time they experienced vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school
If your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis and prescribed antibiotics, your child can not return to school until they have been on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours. A doctor's note should be brought to school via their backpack, emailed to Jenny Goodwin or faxed to 339-244-2483
Any student returning after an injury that requires a doctor's visit or x-ray, must return with a doctor's note stating the diagnosis and activity restrictions, if any.
Please contact the nurse with any questions.
