State Testing & PSAT/SAT Practice
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As we approach the upcoming state testing period, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of these assessments. State tests are crucial for measuring academic progress, identifying strengths and areas for growth, and ensuring our students are prepared for the next phase in their educational journey. It's vital that students approach these tests with focus and dedication.
Additionally, students have recently received their login tickets to begin practicing for the PSAT and SAT. These exams are important milestones in their academic careers and can open doors to future opportunities, including college admissions and scholarships. The more students practice now, the better prepared they will be for these crucial assessments.
We encourage students to take full advantage of the practice materials provided and to prioritize both their state testing and PSAT/SAT preparation. With consistent effort and focus, they can achieve their best results.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students succeed. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Fagerstrom at dfagerstrom@clioschools.org

Traver Talk
As we work through testing weeks, we want to take a moment to focus on fostering independence in our students. At our school, we emphasize the importance of the PRIDE traits: Positive, Respectful, Independent, Dependable, and Engaged. This year, we have awarded a total of 1,265 PRIDE tickets to students who embody these traits! These tickets are drawn daily, announced, and celebrated each morning. When students are selected, they have the opportunity to choose a gift from our PRIDE cart.
This weekend, we encourage you to spend some time working with your student to enhance their organization and preparedness, which are crucial for demonstrating independence and dependability. Here are a few helpful tips to ensure they are on track:
- Organized Folders: Help your student create organized folders for each class to keep their materials tidy.
- Check Assignments: Encourage your student to regularly check their assignments on StudentVue to stay up-to-date.
- Supplies Ready: Ensure they have all necessary supplies, including pencils, and that their Chromebook is charged nightly.
- Bring Essentials: Remind them to bring their charger and calculator to school each day.
- Homework Schedule: Set up a planned time for homework and study sessions to promote good habits.
By working together, we can help our students develop the independence and responsibility they need to succeed both in school and beyond. Thank you for your support in helping our mustangs achieve their personal best!
Principal's Points
Dear Clio High School Families and Community Members,
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope that everyone had a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy some time with family and friends. As we return to school, we are gearing up for a busy and productive end to the school year.
As we head into the next two weeks, we will be administering state testing for all students in grades 9-11. This is a critical time for our students to demonstrate the hard work they’ve put into their studies, and we ask for your support in helping them prepare.
Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest before each testing day and arrives at school on time. Additionally, a healthy breakfast can help them feel energized and focused. We understand that testing can sometimes feel stressful, but we remind students to take it one step at a time and do their best.
Testing Schedule:
April 9th: 11th grade M-Step
April 10th: 11th grade WorkKeys
April 14th: 9th grade PSAT
April 16th: 10th grade PSAT
April 17th: 11th grade SAT
Encourage students to stay calm, manage their time wisely, and read each question carefully.
Important Reminders for the Next Few Weeks:
Celebration of the Arts (May 17th) – Don’t miss this fantastic evening showcasing the talents of our student musicians and artists.
Senior Prom: (May 3rd) – Our seniors are eagerly anticipating this event, and we hope it will be a memorable evening for all. Prom will be held at Davison Country Club.
While state testing is important, we also want to emphasize that we are here to support our students' overall learning experience. Teachers will continue to provide engaging lessons, and we encourage students to maintain a balanced approach, combining focused study with self-care during this busy time. We understand that testing can create anxiety, and our school counselors are available to meet with students who may need additional support. Students can visit the counseling office, located in The Zone, if they feel overwhelmed or need strategies for managing stress.
For our seniors, the countdown to graduation has begun! Please be on the lookout for upcoming information about graduation activities and ceremonies. We are excited to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to honoring their hard work. Graduation is on Thursday, June 5th, starting at 7:00 pm in Pride Stadium.
As always, we greatly appreciate the support of our families. Your involvement plays a huge role in our students’ success. Thank you for helping us create an environment where every student can reach their personal best!
If you have any questions about the testing schedule or need additional information, don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can help our students finish the year strong.
Wishing you all a successful and positive end to the school year!
