As we wrap up the school year, I find myself reflecting on what an incredible journey this first year has been. From the very beginning, the warmth and hospitality of the Willis ISD community made me feel right at home, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

This year has been full of firsts, not just for me personally, but for our district as we’ve launched new initiatives, celebrated student achievements, and come together in ways that highlight what makes this Wildkat family so special. Whether it was cheering from the stands, walking classrooms, or
conversing with parents and staff, I’ve been continually inspired by the heart and dedication that runs through every corner of this district.

Thank you to our teachers and staff who pour their passion into their work each day,
our families who partner with us to support student success, and our incredible students who remind us daily of the purpose behind everything we do.

There’s still more to come, but for now, I want to say how much fun I’ve had this year and how honored I am to serve as your superintendent. I’m excited for the road ahead, and proud to be Great on YOUR Behalf.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!

With gratitude,

Dr. Kimberley James

Our Strategic Planning process continued this month with our Create Days!

Building on the foundation set during our Design Days, teams worked together to further develop key components of the plan - including goals and measurable objectives that will guide Willis ISD over the next five years. This collaborative effort reflects our shared commitment to ensuring a strong and focused future for every Wildkat.

The hallways of Meador Elementary and Brabham Middle School were transformed into vibrant galleries during their recent Art Shows!

Families came together to celebrate the incredible talent of our young artists, admire their framed masterpieces, and capture memories under a rainbow of color. Thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting creativity, expression, and the arts in Willis ISD!

Mrs. Stott’s 1st grade class at C.C. Hardy Elementary took a virtual field trip to the Statue of Liberty - and it was a hit!

Students were highly engaged as they explored the iconic landmark and discovered fascinating facts about its history and symbolism. This unique experience brought learning to life in a fun and memorable way.

A special thank you to Mrs. Stott and her wonderful son for making this enriching opportunity possible for these young learners!

Big hearts, big cheers, and even bigger smiles!

Our Willis High School Wildkat Football players and Cheerleaders had an amazing time teaming up with our friends from New Danville for a day full of energy and excitement!

New Danville supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing opportunities to live enriched and purposeful lives. We were honored to share this experience with such an inspiring group of individuals.

From running drills and tossing passes to learning cheers and tricks, the field was filled with laughter, encouragement, and unforgettable moments!

We gave our Wildkat Baseball and Softball teams a send-off to remember - complete with cheers, high-fives, and a hallway full of Wildkat pride! The celebration continued as we recognized other outstanding student groups that have been earning awards of their own.

Following a tough battle, our Ladykats ended their playoff run in the Area round, while Baseball aims for the Area title this week against Tomball. We couldn't be prouder of these teams and all they have achieved so far. They certainly make us proud to be KATS!

Roark Early Education Center had an extra special visitor the Thursday before Good Friday break - and it brought plenty of smiles and spring cheer!

Our little learners were delighted by a surprise appearance from the Easter Bunny, who made their day with cheerful waves, high-fives, and photo ops. The visit brought joy not just to students, but to staff as well, making it a fun and festive way to welcome the season. Thank you to everyone who helped make this moment magical!

From Sunshine Day smiles to impressive showings in non-livestock and livestock events, Willis ISD students made the most of every moment at this year’s Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo! Whether they were presenting creative projects, showing animals, or simply soaking in the experience, the memories made were as big as the accomplishments earned.

Congratulations to all of our students who represented Willis ISD with pride and passion!

If any results are missing from this list, please email kbrocato@willisisd.org.

A season shaped by student talent, marked by thousands of notes, and filled with memories to last a lifetime!

Parmley first-grade students recently embarked on an exciting field trip to the Oil Ranch in Hockley, Texas.

They experienced hands-on learning by milking cows at the Dairy Barn, feeding cattle during a hayride, and interacting with animals in the petting zoo. The day was filled with fun and educational activities, including exploring Frontier Village and enjoying the wide-open spaces of the ranch.

It was a memorable adventure that brought classroom lessons to life!

April was a standout month for Willis High School Track & Field! From exciting finishes to big wins, our athletes have been showing up strong and stacking up some well-earned victories.

Highlights:

  • Heath Grant - 1st place, STATE BOUND, Region II 6A Champion (800m)
  • Kaeley Uhlig - 2nd place, ADVANCED TO REGIONALS (Pole Vaulting)
  • Warren Henager - 3rd place, ADVANCED TO REGIONALS (Pole Vaulting)
  • Tyler Andrade - 4th place, ADVANCED TO REGIONALS (Pole Vaulting)

Students from Willis ISD proudly represented our district last month at a truly special event!

Members of our choir, drumline, dance, and cheer teams came together with the Republic Grand Ranch community to warmly welcome the Parker family, a wounded veteran and his loved ones, into their new home.

Through a powerful partnership with Homes for Heroes and Design Tech Homes, this beautiful house now stands as a symbol of gratitude and honor for a family's sacrifice.

We are proud to see our students playing a role in this meaningful celebration of service, resilience, and community!

STAAR Prep, WILDKAT Style!

From classroom competitions to review games, our students had a blast gearing up for STAAR testing! The energy was high, the learning was strong, and the smiles were everywhere.

A huge shoutout to our amazing teachers and staff who went above and beyond to make test prep not only meaningful, but FUN. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication helped our students feel confident and ready to show what they know.

Big congrats to our talented Willis High School Wildkats who signed on to their next chapter during our Fine Arts Signing Day event!

Whether it’s music, theatre, or visual arts, we’re so proud of the passion and dedication you bring to your craft, and we can’t wait to see where your creativity takes you next!

Take a peek into the classroom and see what Willis ISD students have been doing for the

past few weeks!

Willis ISD has launched its Paws of PRIDE program - a special initiative to recognize staff who go above and beyond in their daily roles.

Alongside Superintendent Dr. James, we created the acronym PRIDE.

This acronym stands for:

  • Passionate
  • Responsive
  • Innovative
  • Dynamic
  • Empathetic

These five values reflect what we expect from our Wildkat staff. Utilizing a form, staff and community members can send personalized appreciation cards to any staff member who they believe is going above and beyond in their duties.

After a thoughtful review, we’re thrilled to recognize Brabham Middle School's Lindsey Moore and Yolanda Nephew, and C.C. Hardy Elementary's Dakotah Epple as this month’s Paws of PRIDE honorees! These outstanding staff members have made a remarkable impact on those around them, truly embodying our PRIDE values. They were honored by the Willis ISD Board of Trustees at the April board meeting.

We encourage you to show your appreciation year-round by submitting a Paws of PRIDE card for any staff member who goes above and beyond. It’s a great way to recognize their hard work and dedication!

There are several places you can go to submit an employee Paws of PRIDE card:

  • Direct Link to Form: https://forms.gle/CQJxj1pkjnFCdfFW6
  • Visit the Willis ISD Website and click on Paws of Pride under the "Community" tab.
  • On any district or campus website, find the Paws of PRIDE button on the right middle of the screen.
  • Use the Willis ISD Mobile App: Click on the "paw" icon in the "More" screen.

The following staff members were hired between April 2 and May 5. Welcome to the district - we are so happy to have each and every one of you!

At Willis ISD, we prioritize open and effective communication with our families. To enhance our service, we are introducing a new Communications Process on our website. This system will help ensure that your questions and concerns are directed to the appropriate individual, allowing for quicker and more efficient responses.

How Does It Work?

  • A "Contact Us" button is available on the right side of district and campus websites.

  • Clicking the button will walk you through a step-by-step communication flow, helping you determine the best person to assist you.

  • Once you’ve found the appropriate contact, you’ll be redirected to a Contact Request Form, which will automatically connect your inquiry to the correct staff member.

  • The designated staff member will receive an email notification and will respond to your request as soon as possible.

Communication Levels:

  • Level 1: Campus Receptionist – General inquiries, schedules, events, and policies.
  • Level 2: Teacher – Questions related to class content, grades, and assignments.
  • Level 3: School Nurse – Health-related concerns, immunizations, and student well-being.
  • Level 4: Counselor – Student support, academic planning, and social-emotional concerns.
  • Level 5: Campus Administrator – Issues unresolved at prior levels.
  • Level 6: District Department – Larger concerns requiring district-level resolution.

Why Does This Matter?

This structured approach ensures that your questions reach the right person quickly and efficiently, improving communication between families and staff.

We encourage you to use this new tool to streamline communication. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support of Willis ISD!

Students and parents can utilize the district’s anonymous alerts system to report any suspicious or known activity.
