March Prayer - Lenten Prayer🕊️

Loving God,

As we journey through this holy season of Lent,
we open our hearts to You with hope and gratitude.

During these weeks of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving,
help us to grow closer to Jesus.
Teach us to be kind in our words,
patient in our actions,
and generous with our time and hearts.

Guide our school community
to notice those who need a friend,
to listen with care,
and to share Your love in all we do.

When we make mistakes,
help us to try again with courage and trust.
When we feel discouraged,
fill us with Your peace.
When we see goodness,
let us celebrate it with joy.

As we prepare for Easter,
may our hearts become more like Jesus’—
loving, compassionate, and full of hope.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Virtue of the Month Virtue of the Month

Kindness

In the DPCDSB, the virtue for the month of March is Kindness, a virtue that reflects the heart of our Catholic faith and prepares us to walk with Jesus during the sacred season of Lent. When we practice kindness—through our words, actions, and choices—we live out the Catholic Graduate Expectations, especially by becoming Caring Family Members who show compassion, respect, and empathy for others. Lent invites us to pray more deeply, share generously, and open our hearts to those in need. Small acts of kindness—helping a friend, including someone who feels alone, offering encouragement, or choosing patience—become meaningful ways to prepare for Easter. By following Jesus’ example of love, our kindness helps brighten our school community and brings us closer to the hope and joy of the Resurrection.

We are excited to announce that our Soaring Into Spring Event will take place on May 21st, 2026, and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make it a memorable day for our school community. This event brings together students, families, and staff for an afternoon of fun, activities, and celebration, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of volunteers. Whether assisting with games, supervising stations, helping with setup or cleanup, or supporting logistics throughout the day, every helping hand makes a meaningful difference. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the St. Evan school office, and we will share your information with our Catholic School Council. All volunteers must be 18 years or older and have a completed Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check. Your time and support help our spring celebration truly soar!

The St. Evan Youth Faith Ambassadors invites our entire school community to Put Love in Motion by supporting those in need and bringing hope to the table. From March 2–13, students and families are encouraged to participate by donating non-perishable food items—each contribution representing one act of love. All donations collected will support the Daily Bread Food Bank, helping ensure that our collective kindness reaches individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Through this initiative, our Youth Faith Ambassadors continue to lead with compassion and inspire others to live out the true spirit of Lent.

Our FDK students had an exciting opportunity to participate in the Scientist in the Classroom program, bringing hands-on learning and real-world exploration right into their classroom. Through engaging activities, demonstrations, and guided discoveries, students were encouraged to observe, question, and experiment like true young scientists. The interactive session helped spark curiosity while supporting early learning expectations in science, technology, and inquiry-based thinking. This experience not only enriched their understanding of the world around them but also inspired a sense of wonder and enthusiasm for learning.

Peel Public Health has sent several reminders requesting that families update their child’s immunization records. To ensure your child remains in compliance with provincial requirements and avoids possible suspension, please make sure all immunizations are reported directly to Peel Public Health. Keeping records up to date helps maintain a safe and healthy school environment for everyone.

No Parking in front of FDK Parking Lot! No Parking in front of FDK Parking Lot!

This is a reminder about safe parking procedures during drop-off and pick-up. Families must not park in the lot in front of the FDK yard, as this area is reserved for Child Care and school staff and parking there creates unsafe conditions for our youngest students. Limited visitor parking is available in the east lot, and families are encouraged to walk to school whenever possible. If driving, please park legally on nearby side streets and walk your child to the FDK gate. Thank you for helping us keep our Kindergarten students and school community safe.

Lunch Deliveries Lunch Deliveries

We would like to remind all families that food delivery services (such as Uber Eats, SkipTheDishes, DoorDash, etc.) are not permitted at the school.

For safety and security reasons, as well as to minimize disruptions to the school day, deliveries from outside vendors will not be accepted for students. If a student forgets their lunch, parents or guardians may drop it off at the main office, clearly labeled with the student’s name and grade, and we will ensure it is delivered at an appropriate time.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students.

Reminders! Reminders!

Attendance

We are happy that your child is part of the St. Evan community. As a new school year is underway, it’s a fresh start and a good opportunity to set up new routines and habits to support daily attendance and being on time for school.

We know that arriving on time for school and being ready to learn is a building block to learning success. When kids can start their day alongside their peers and participate in the morning procedures at school, it can help them to feel more connected to their classroom community and at school. We know that this is helpful for overall student wellbeing and mental health.

Ideas to boost on time attendance at school:

· Establish a consistent bedtime schedule on school nights.

· Remember that school age kids need approximately 8-9 hours of sleep each night.

· Get organized the night before including backpacks, completing any homework tasks/filling out forms and even getting lunch items ready.

· In the mornings, try to give yourself enough time (without being rushed) to go through your routine.

· Have conversations with your child(ren) about why arriving at school on time is important and if they have any ideas to help achieve that goal.

· Plan for vacations and holidays during scheduled school vacation times where possible.

Parents are important partners in joining with us to promote on time arrivals and everyday attendance at St. Evan. Thank you for your support.

Signing Students Out

If you are planning to sign your child out during the school day, please keep in mind the scheduled recess times listed below. To ensure a smooth and efficient departure, we kindly ask that you arrive approximately 10 minutes before recess begins. Signing out during recess can be more challenging, as students are outside and not easily accessible. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe and organized environment for all. Thank you for your understanding and support.
