CAMP!!
We will need at least 12 moms and 12 dads to join us as chaperones! Chaperones will be chosen through a lottery as we get closer to the date of camp. Please fill out this Chaperone Interest Form by September 23rd if you'd like to be a part of 5th grade camp with your child.
If you are the mom of a boy or the dad of a girl, you can still be a chaperone!!
Parents of same gender child will stay in cabins with their child, chaperone a group of students from the cabin, and spend the day with their child's learning group and the assigned students.
Parents of opposite gender child will stay in cabins of same gender and chaperone a group of students from the cabin. The parent and the students they are chaperoning will be assigned the same learning group as their child during the day and evening activities
The Background check form must also be completed no later that September 23rd. So even if you are not sure if you can be a chaperone yet, please fill it out since it can take a little time to clear. Please note that background checks must be done each year if you are volunteering at school
Only parents who have approved background checks are allowed by Prosper ISD to join as chaperones.
What and When?
We cannot wait to take these wonderful 5th graders on a remarkable Outdoor Education adventure and we are even more excited to watch them experience it! The administrators at Reeves and PISD have made a thorough search for the highest quality outdoor education program, and they have selected the program at Sky Ranch.
Sky Ranch is located near Van, TX, an hour and a half east from Dallas. It has been in operation for over 60 years and has been a long-trusted name in quality programming for children. The curriculum and staff are outstanding. This program is to serve as an extension of the classroom, delivering educational content in alignment with the Texas Standards, especially science. You can feel secure about your child's participation in hands-on activities which will develop their awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the outdoor environment. SKY RANCH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Students will leave for Sky Ranch the morning of Wednesday, October 28 and return to Reeves mid afternoon Friday, October 30. Get ready for the excitement from your child!
Reeves Library Managers Club
Does your 5th grader love books and want to help around our school library?
5th graders can sign up to become a Library Manager and help check in and shelve books, as well as keep the library organized and welcoming.
Library Managers will help once a week during recess, and students must remain in good academic standing while participating. Students who are interested should grab and return a signed parent permission slip to Mrs. Wise in the library. We are hoping to begin the program in the 2nd or 3rd week of September, with students participating on a rotating schedule.
A Library Manager Permission form can be found here.
