Engineering Yo-Yo's

The Engineering class was tasked with creating a YO-YO to perform a trick of their choice. They identified the problem, researched design solutions that would allow them to perform the trick of their choice, selected their best design solution, and began their prototype designs in Solidworks, a 3D CAD software system. Each student ran a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of their final design to establish the YO-YO was within tolerance parameters. Once they met the parameters, each student's YO-YO designs were 3D printed and assembled into a YO-YO. Once assembled, they practiced their tricks and performed for each other as a class. Lastly, they analyzed the performance of the trick, identifying improvements which could be made to improve performance.
