Dear Discovery Families,

Just a reminder that this is a short school week, with no school on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23. During these days, teachers have the opportunity to attend the ND Teacher Conference.

While conferences provide a valuable opportunity for professional development, professional learning is ongoing at Discovery. Our teachers are continuously working to strengthen their teaching practices and find new ways to meet the needs of their students. Our Early Out Wednesdays are a great example of this commitment. During this time, teachers meet in their Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to take a deeper look at classroom and school wide data, identify student learning needs, plan interventions and differentiate instruction to help all students succeed.

Our specialized support teams (Resource Teachers, Literacy Specialists, Counselors, and Multilingual Teachers) also collaborate to identify strategies and supports that best meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and language needs of our students.

So much of the work our teachers do happens beyond the classroom walls. Their dedication to learning and continuously improving is a big part of what makes Discovery such a special place. Here's to celebrating our incredible Discovery teachers for the time and heart they put into growing their practice and making a difference for our students.

Spills, mud, accidents, and unexpected messes happen! Please send a spare set of clothes in your child’s backpack to keep at school. A shirt, pants/shorts, underwear, and socks can make all the difference when little mishaps happen!

To help keep all of our students safe, our school district does not allow birthday treats or food items to be brought in due to allergies. We love celebrating students, and non-food items like trinkets, small toys, pencils, or other fun items are always welcome. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
