Student Representatives to the Board of School Directors
Hello, Lower Moreland Community! We, the Student Representatives for the 2024-2025 school year, [Mia Dubin and Edona Selamaj], are excited to share with you the latest updates regarding the school climate at Pine Road, Murray Avenue, Lower Moreland Middle School, and Lower Moreland High School!
To begin, at Pine Road, although the annual Martin Luther King [MLK] Day of Service was cancelled due to snow, over 200 students and staff still participated in a variety of service projects throughout the week. These efforts included creating approximately 200 bookmarks and welcome cards for incoming kindergarten students and even 200 Valentine cards for veterans in the community. In addition, they made 200 placemats and hot chocolate cards for the elderly in the community and sorted hygiene donations for Face to Face. Several students and staff also donated their hair to Locks of Love. The school is incredibly proud of the positive impact their students and staff have made on the community.
Meanwhile, at Murray Avenue, the school hosted its first multicultural event, “Light Up the Night.” It was a fun evening filled with food, presentations, and cultural sharing. The following day, 100 Murray Avenue students participated in the “MLK Day of Service” by teaming up with “Rise Against Hunger” to package and provide a plethora of meals for those in need. How incredible!
At the Middle School, students in 8th grade recently had their 8th grade ski trip, where over one hundred students skied, snowboarded, or went tubing. It was an incredible trip that provided a great opportunity for students to enjoy the outdoors and socialize with their school friends, helping to bridge the student body together!
Lastly, at the High School, students spent time prepping for and taking their midterm exams. Although a hectic time, the students balanced studying with other activities, pushing through the stress to demonstrate what they have learned so far. It was a great chance for students to test their knowledge and see how much they have grown academically!

Business Office (Mark McGuinn, Business Manager)
Each year, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue provides a list of taxpayers’ names and
addresses to be reviewed by school districts for each tax year. The purpose of this report is for school districts to make corrections to a list of names and addresses of taxpayers who reported to the Department on their Pennsylvania Personal Income Tax returns they are residents of the school district on Dec. 31 of a given tax year.
For the most recent tax year received by the School District (tax year 2023), business officials
had to remove 1,498 taxpayers/addresses out of a total of over 7,156 taxpayers/addresses that were incorrectly denoted as Lower Moreland Township School District. These corrections are sent to the correct school districts as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue for reconciliation purposes and in conjunction, other school districts will send their miscoded information to Lower Moreland for verification purposes. As a reminder for all residents of Lower Moreland Township School District, the School District code that should be denoted on an individual Pennsylvania State Income Tax return should be 46460. As folks complete their returns for the tax year 2024, please ensure that the school district code is correct.
If addresses are not corrected and taxpayers are not properly removed, their corresponding
income levels will be attributed to the district denoted thereby skewing the income levels and making the individual district appear “wealthier” than it actually is. In Pennsylvania, “wealthier” school districts receive less direct State funding for their Basic Instruction Subsidy as well as other State reimbursements. If there are any questions about this process, please contact Mark McGuinn, Business Manager at mmcguinn@lmtsd.org or (215) 938-0270 ext. 4515.

Comprehensive Planning Process- Feedback Solicitation
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requires school districts and other local education agencies (LEAs) to engage in comprehensive planning every three years. The plan is designed to focus on continuous improvement in leadership, teaching, and learning and emphasizes evidence-based approaches to improve student outcomes. Because of the excellent work completed last year by the Strategic Planning Committee, our District is well prepared to move forward in providing academic rigor and excellence for all students. The priorities of the Comprehensive Plan are well-aligned with the Lower Moreland Strategic Plan 2025-2029.
Lower Moreland Township School District would like to thank the members of the community (students, parents, board members, community members, teachers and staff, and the administrative team) who volunteered their time to participate in the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. Prior to submission to the state, the plan must be made available for public review and comment for 28 days. You can find the draft of the plan here on the LMTSD website. If you have questions or feedback, please email the Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Julie Henrich. We thank you, in advance, for your support of our District.
