It's a Great Year To Have a GREAT Year!

Welcome Back Coleman Families,

It's the start of the 2022-2023 school year! WOW, where did the summer go? It is my absolute pleasure and privilege to welcome students, staff and families back for another great year of learning and personal success. We look forward to partnering with you once again and plan to make this a fantastic year for all. Our theme this year is “Mission Possible”! We invite you to join us in modeling for our students that anything is possible when you have supportive friends/family, a good work ethic, good character and create a vision of the future you desire. In all these things, we will continue to be Difference Makers in the lives of others and ourselves.

Our secure vestibule is almost complete. THANK YOU MVR-III Voters! Safety and security is of the utmost importance and highest priority. My staff and I strive to perform our duties with the highest level of regard to honor the trust you place in us to care for your child every day.

If any member of our school team can be of assistance at any time, please contact us. We love hearing from you and look forward to working with your family again this year. In this newsletter, you will find a wealth of information and embedded links to make it easier to find what you need in one place.

Your Proud Principal,

Mrs. Weirich

AM & PM Procedures

Parent Drop off AND Parent Pick Up will both be located in the lower parking lot on the south side of the building beginning this school year. We practiced this summer and it was perfect. Please follow the traffic flow and be courteous to other families. SAFETY is our top priority and we want everyone to know he/she will be safe when arriving or dismissing.

KIDaccount

We are beginning our second year of using Kidaccount. Families will receive scannable cards that link only your students authorized pick up list and will be scanned each time your child is picked up. This is a very safe, secure and efficient way to dismiss students. Please be sure to have this card with you or a valid picture ID.

Communication is KEY

By clicking on any of the images below, you will be transported to one of the many ways Coleman Elementary communicates with families and community. This is where you can find out what is happening each day at school. Our shared goals as a community will be obtained with strong partnerships invested in the importance of the home and school relationship. Transportation

If your student will be a bus rider, we strongly encourage him/her to ride the bus to and from school on the first days of school. Students need to meet their bus driver and get into the routine of those normal procedures starting on day one. Help your child be successful and have a smooth transition to school by starting their day off with our friendly bus drivers. Parents are welcome to meet their student at school, on the first day, after they arrive on the bus and snap a picture outside. Bus Routes can be found be clicking on the link below.

The district is also expanding the Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) safety program at each K-8 building in the district. Watch D.O.G.S. is a national innovative program focusing on the prevention of violence in our children's schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for two purposes:

1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.

2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and any other father-figures who volunteer as a positive presence for at least one whole school day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.

Breakfast & Lunch

Studies show that a healthy breakfast gives children a head start to a successful day. The cost of breakfast is $2.10 per day; lunch is $3.30 per day. Students may purchase extra milk for $.65 per carton. All money to be deposited into your student’s lunch account should be placed in an envelope with the student’s name, grade, teacher’s name, and the amount enclosed. MVR-III is asking that ALL families complete the free/reduced meal application to ensure continued funding to support ALL students in our district. Students from households that meet federal income guidelines are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals. Periodic notices will be sent home regarding meal account balance and can also be accessed through the SIS Parent Portal System.

Coleman Elementary

I am beginning my 7th year as Principal at Coleman Elementary and 24th year with the MVR-III District. I am a lifelong member of our community and grew up in Pacific and Villa Ridge. I attended MVR-III as a student myself, and had the privilege of attending Zitzman Elementary before moving to Coleman Elementary in second grade. I am blessed to lay claim to these experiences and privileged to work with your family in this capacity. Thank you for entrusting me and my staff in providing your child with an excellent educational experience in a loving and responsive environment. Every student and every day is a gift.
