Students choose new mascot

After surveying over 1,000 students and meeting with every student group, the mascot for the district's sixth middle school has been chosen!

"We are thrilled to be the Moseley Mustangs! Engaging with our future students was key to shaping our campus culture, and selecting this mascot is an exciting first step," said Moseley Principal Dr. Kari Roan.

Wendell Holmes Moseley was born on September 5, 1911, in McKinney, Texas, to James and Maude Moseley. He grew up with six siblings and spent fifty-one years married to his beloved wife, raising four children together.

Mr. Moseley, a standout athlete at McKinney High School, excelled in basketball, baseball, and football. He later earned a master’s in Special Education from North Texas State Teachers College in 1947, paving the way for a lifelong dedication to education.

Mr. Moseley served as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in McKinney ISD and Prosper ISD. As Collin County Schools Superintendent (1950-1958), he guided schools toward independence. In 1959, he became Prosper ISD’s Superintendent, leading desegregation and serving until his 1976 retirement.

Mr. Moseley’s dedication extended beyond education through his active role in the Lions Club and Prosper United Methodist Church. In retirement, he found deep fulfillment in advancing education, believing it was the key to success, and in his lasting impact on students and the community. Mr. Moseley passed away on February 14, 1990.
