A Message from Your Principal
Hello Garfield Families,
Welcome to October! As we enjoy the cooler weather, cozy sweaters, and all things pumpkin-spiced, this season also brings a special opportunity to connect: Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner!
Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon (if they haven’t already) to schedule a time to meet.
Please note:
Parent-Teacher Conference Day is Friday, October 31st – there will be no school for students on this day.
In addition to October 31st, your teacher may offer limited time slots on other days leading up to that date. They will communicate those options directly with you.
Each family will be able to sign up for one conference time slot.
Conferences are a valuable time to check in and collaborate. You might consider asking:
What are my child’s academic strengths and areas for growth?
How can I support their progress at home?
How is my child doing socially and emotionally?
We deeply value our partnership with you in supporting your child’s learning and well-being. Thank you for being a vital part of the Garfield Elementary community.
Warmly,
Methinee Bozeman
Picture Make Up Day is October 7
School picture make up day is this Tuesday, October 7th. If your student was absent on school picture day last month, please plan on taking pictures this Tuesday. All students will be photographed for our yearbook. If your student had pictures taken previously but you'd like for them to be taken again, have your student bring the first picture package to the photographer. You will receive the same photo package as your original purchase. If you'd like to purchase additional pictures at any time this year, go to www.islandphotography.net and enter school code 316.

College Gear Day
The second Thursday of every month is College Gear Day at Garfield. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite college tee-shirts or sweatshirts on this day and show their school spirit! Elementary students are always thinking of what they’d like to be when they grow up, so questions about post secondary education are encouraged!
