SINGING HILLS AND RUNNING CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS START FIRST WEEK
Welcome back ESD elementary families!
This is the first week that students are back for Singing Hills and Running Creek Elementary Schools and it has been a fantastic start.
At Singing Hills, Principal Amber Sorg and her staff have been hard at work, ensuring that the student pick-up and drop-off process is smooth for parents. Amber says the students this year are starting off with a lot of confidence, saying that one of the kindergarteners got out of the car on the first day and said, "I got this!"
Additionally, Amber says they have been preparing for their Back to School night for next week and in the classrooms, the students and teachers have been establishing their social contracts, which lays out a set of rules and expectations for the school year. She says her 4th and 5th grade ambassador students are getting ready for the season and will soon be making announcements.
At Running Creek, Principal Michael Seefried says it is always exciting seeing the kids come back. He says the kids fall back into their routines quickly, start building relationships with students and teachers and he personally loves seeing the start of school because it is an engaging time for kids. Michael says you can see the excitement on the faces of teachers and says it is a lot of work to prepare for the start of school, but that everyone loves doing it.
In the classrooms, the students are learning about each other, including birthdays and favorite foods, while also establishing the social contracts with their teachers. Michael says those social contracts really help build a sense of community in the classrooms. For Running Creek, their Back to School Night will be held in September.
Also this week, members of ESD Administration, including Superintendent Dan Snowberger and Chief Academic Officer Kim Moore visited with staff and students at all of the school sites.
It's great to see all schools officially up and running for 2024-2025!
EHS STUDENTS KICK OFF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR WITH ANNUAL COLOR DANCE
Some great pictures from last Friday at the EHS Color Dance. The dance is a popular annual event that features a vibrant celebration of color and music.
EHS students dress in all white and take part in an evening of lively dancing and tossing of color powder. The event fosters school spirit, promotes unity and provides a fun and memorable experience for the school.
After it was all said and done, let's just say that all of those white shirts looked a lot different!
EHS AUTO SHOP STUDENTS HOPE FOR COMPLETION OF UNFINISHED AUTO BUILDING
How do EHS students feel about the idea of getting the auto building completed? Listen to what Senior Tyler Mitchell and Junior Christopher Sauter have to say about it.
In order to complete this project, we need help from the community. We have a long way to go in terms of raising enough funding to finish the job, but we know it can happen! You can donate now through MySchoolBucks by scanning the QR code in the video or by visiting this link:
We also could use help from contractors who might be willing to do work on it at a reduced cost. That includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing and insulation. If you are a contractor interested in helping, just contact Derek Spohn: dspohn@esdk12.org
We are greatly looking forward to our auto building fundraiser coming up on Tuesday, August 27th from 4-7 p.m. You MUST RSVP for the event and please do so by contacting Derek Spohn with the email listed above. It is a LIVE auction and paddle raise event. Attendees will have the chance at bidding on custom floor and wall tiles to secure their names in EHS history as important donors who helped make this dream a reality.
If anyone can get a project like this finished, it's the wonderful, generous and talented community that resides in Elizabeth and Elbert County!
EHS AUTO BUILDING FUNDRAISER: THE HISTORY AND MOTIVATION BEHIND THE EVENT
Let's get this finished!
Check out the video interview above with EHS Auto Shop Instructor Derek Spohn and ESD Public Information Officer Jeff Maher about the fundraiser and history of the EHS Auto Building.
At next week's event, barbecue will be provided by Smokey Trail and there will be a LIVE auction/paddle raise event where bidders can secure name engraved tiles that will be added to the building itself. At the same time, we welcome any contractors to reach out to us who specialize in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and insulation who might be willing to do some work at a reduced cost.
The end goal is to get this project completed quickly so that EHS students can start using it and learn all about the automotive industry. It is a thriving market that is in demand and we want to make sure that our graduates are set up for success, but also, to give them a place to discover their passion.
