Forward Exam Educator Involvement Opportunity

DPI is currently recruiting Wisconsin educators to participate in “New Item Review” in-person meetings for the Forward Exam. During the item review, Wisconsin educators will come together to review newly created Forward Exam questions for content, grade level appropriateness, alignment to correct standard, cultural inclusivity, and bias/sensitivity issues prior to placement on the exam.

New Item Review is an important step in the development of the Forward Exam. This is a great opportunity for educators to be a part of assessment development, provide valuable feedback, have detailed input about the questions on the Forward Exam, and take knowledge back to your district about the process.

More information, including how to apply, is available on the Forward Exam Educators Involvement webpage.

Securly Flex

We will be moving to Securly Flex after the next round of data meetings. Here is some info:

Securly Flex (formerly known as FlexTime Manager or Edficiency) is a specialized scheduling and management platform designed for K-12 schools. Its primary purpose is to manage "flex periods"—non-traditional blocks of time during the school day used for intervention, enrichment, or personalized learning.

Rather than relying on messy spreadsheets, Securly Flex automates the logistics of where students go and what they do during these flexible windows.

Core Features

  • Dynamic Scheduling: Allows students to choose their own activities (like a club, quiet study, or a specific workshop) while giving teachers the power to "request" or "pull" specific students for mandatory help or remediation.

  • Auto-Assign Logic: If a student doesn't select an activity, the system automatically assigns them to a designated location (like a homeroom or study hall) to ensure 100% accountability.

  • Capacity Management: Prevents over-crowding by setting limits on how many students can sign up for a specific room or activity.

  • Real-Time Rosters: Teachers receive updated daily rosters so they know exactly who to expect. Students receive notifications (via app or email) telling them where they need to be.

  • Conflict Resolution: The system automatically prioritizes teacher requests over student choices, ensuring that academic needs (like a math retake) take precedence over leisure activities.

Key Benefits for Schools

Benefits

Personalized Learning: Allows students "voice and choice" in their daily schedule, which can increase engagement and ownership.

Targeted Intervention: Makes Response to Intervention (RTI) easier to manage by letting teachers target specific students for 1:1 or small-group support.

Administrative Relief: Replaces manual paper-tracking or spreadsheets with an automated daily system that syncs with existing SIS (Student Information Systems).

Campus Safety: Provides an audit trail of exactly where every student is at any given moment during the day.
