A Note from the PCHS Admin Team
PCHS Community,
It's Prom time! We look forward to seeing our Juniors and Seniors and their guests dressed up and dancing up a storm tomorrow night! Thank you for having an intentional conversation with your Prom-goer before they head out to encourage safe and healthy decision-making.
Progress Report 6 is now viewable in MiStar! It's the home stretch folks! Review those grades, celebrate progress and achievements, and support opportunities for growth.
Have a great weekend, Pirates!
Mrs. McBride & Mr. McMurray
Congrats to Our 2025-2026 Class Council & StuGo Leaders!
Additional Course Option for 2025-26!
This course helps students connect their education to potential careers by discovering their interests, exploring career options, and planning for life after high school. Students will research various professions, learn about postsecondary education pathways, develop college and career readiness skills, and create a personalized plan for the future.
Topics covered include professions, potential colleges and trade schools, direct-to-work pathways, college and trade school requirements and applications, FAFSA, scholarships, college board, cover letters and resumes, LinkedIn, job postings and job boards, and career readiness skills.
If this course is of interest to your student, have them drop by the Counseling Office to ensure it's in their course requests for next year!
Postsecondary & Workforce Readiness - Parent/Guardian Survey (by 5/16, please!)
We need your feedback! We are working hard to be sure your student is prepared for life after high school. Your input on this survey will help us better understand your needs and your student’s needs as they relate to Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR). Your responses are anonymous, meaning your name will not be associated with your answers. The results of this survey will be used for informational purposes and will help us make decisions about programs and services that will benefit you and your student.
NOTE: Throughout this survey you will see the word "postsecondary." Please keep in mind the term “postsecondary” means “AFTER high school.”

PCHS PTO Happenings
THANK YOU to everyone who has donated gift cards this week towards next week's Teacher Appreciation celebrations! It is SO appreciated. We are really looking forward to celebrating our teachers all week long. This profession is really a work of art and heart, and we are so grateful for our PCHS teaching staff. Thank you for helping us shower them with goodness.
On deck:
- Preparing for May 5-9 Teacher Appreciation Week activities! We're looking forward to providing our staff a coffee truck on Friday, gift card drawings across the week (or month depending on contributions!), and a catered lunch early in the week.
- May 15: Stuff Your Stanley Fundraiser at NautiMi!
Review the April PTO meeting minutes here, and consider joining us for the next meeting on Tuesday, May 13 at 6pm in the Pirate Union.
PCHS Student & Staff Member of the Week
We recognize a student and staff member each week, nominated by the school community based on how fellow Pirates are exemplifying Positivity Project traits and identified by our Leadership & Link Crew class. Our Student of the Week is also recognized as a part of the Livingston Daily's spotlight, published digitally on Fridays and in print on Sundays.
Isabella Seal
Pinckney Community High School is proud to recognize 9th grader Isabella Seal as our Student of the Week. Isabella is a dedicated student who maintains straight A’s while bringing positivity, humor, and leadership to every space she enters. Known for her open-mindedness, kindness, and perseverance, she is the kind of student who lifts others up—whether by helping with schoolwork, leading group projects with focus and enthusiasm, or simply offering the right words at the right time.
Her classmates and teachers describe her as an amazing friend, a natural leader, and someone who balances academic excellence with a fun, lighthearted spirit. Isabella’s forgiving nature, strong work ethic, and joyful personality make her a standout member of our school community, and we are proud to celebrate her this week.
Mr. Randy Smith
Pinckney Community High School is proud to recognize Welding CTE teacher Randy Smith as our Staff Member of the Week. Mr. Smith has shown exceptional leadership and dedication in revitalizing our welding program, transforming it into a hands-on, future-focused experience that is gaining countywide attention. His commitment to making the program relevant and competitive for today’s skilled trades industry reflects a deep love of learning and a passion for student success.
Mr. Smith brings creativity, curiosity, and perspective to his teaching—always willing to try new instructional approaches, experiment with assessment strategies, and share what he’s learned with colleagues. He supports fellow teachers with thoughtful guidance and classroom management advice, serving as a mentor and leader in the CTE department. Known for his humility, fairness, and sharp sense of humor, Mr. Smith balances structure and support in a dynamic classroom environment, earning the respect of students and staff alike. We are proud to celebrate his contributions to our school community.
What We Did in Seminar This Week
On Fridays, students spend an hour in what we call Seminar. The purpose of Seminar is to ensure every student has at least one go-to adult mentor at PCHS focused on their well-being, academic success, and connection to a healthy school climate.

We are excited to share the upcoming Pinckney Pup Run & Walk, a 5k run/walk that is being organized by our amazing elementary PTOs in support of our PCS therapy dogs. Attendance, Earning Credits, & Mr. Mac's Academy
At PCHS, if a student exceeds 10 absences in a semester in a course, they must make up the time missed in order to earn the credit for that course on their transcript - a must for graduation from high school! It is very important to be at school consistently to be successful academically. Please pay close attention to your student's attendance detail in MiStar and proactively support them to stay within that 10 absence maximum per semester. If a student has a hold on their credit due to absences, it will read as an "H" on their transcript.
Mr. McMurray, our Assistant Principal, offers "Mr. Mac's Academy" on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30pm. This is a consistent opportunity to make-up hours due to excessive absences. To attend Mr. Mac's Academy, a student must sign up in advance at the front desk of the Main Office with Mrs. Lasure.
