4/5's exhibition gallery walkthrough with parents and staff 4/5's exhibition gallery walkthrough with parents and staff

Dear Families,

Today is Rachel’s last day as our admin assistant. We wish her well! In her new district role, we hope to see her on a weekly basis at WES.

PYP Exhibition: The 5th grade Exhibition presentations Monday and Tuesday evening were excellent. They clearly have served as a rite of passage. It was evident that each student had researched their topic and worked diligently to communicate their understanding clearly and fluently. As an audience member I came away with a lot of new knowledge and curiosity. Thanks to the students - Mac Boulanger, Finn Castle, Maiya Drake, Silas Gorton, Jade Hance, August Wilhelm - and Kat Yepez for all they put into these presentations.

Exhibition Action Projects:

From Makai Nurok: I am doing a PYP Exhibition project right now. Exhibition is where 4th/5th graders research about the 17 UN Sustainability Goals. My topic is sustainable cities. My action project is a bike- to/from-school day to be held on 4/30/26 (5/1/26 rain date). Please don’t feel pressured to have your child take part and only allow them to participate if you feel your route to school is safe and your child’s bicycle riding skill is focused, strong and road worthy. Parents will need to bike with their child or identify a designated adult to accompany them. Please look for the permission slip which will be going out Monday, April 27.

From Silas Gorton:This year I studied hunger for a project and I was surprised by how many people are facing hunger worldwide, so I decided to host a food drive at Weybridge Elementary School, April 27th-May 8th.

FOOD DRIVE

  • JUICE (64 oz. bottles are best)

  • CANNED VEGGIES (please no corn or peas)

  • CANNED FRUIT- (We don’t need applesauce or peaches)

  • Hearty soups- split pea, lentil, bean, chowders

  • Canned pasta-ravioli, spaghetti, and Kidney beans

  • Canned chili, baked beans

  • Instant pasta and rice dishes

  • Ethnic foods (Mexican, Indian)

  • Cereals and Oatmeal (including granola, and instant oatmeal)

  • Condiments-small size

  • Jellies and Jams

  • Canned tuna and chicken

  • Snack foods- (pretzels, cookies, crackers and granola bars)

  • Can openers and water purification straws

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Cleaning and laundry supplies

Please bring the items to the Weybridge Elementary School (WES) front door, starting April 27. In the fall we already donated 500 pounds to HOPE. Summers coming up, let's collect 1000! - Silas Gorton

VTCAP update: Everyone has completed the assessments! It was pretty impressive to witness how game and serious the students were as they went about working on them.

Lunch help: We need three volunteers the week after vacation: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please sign up directly on the April/May/June lunch calendar if you are available one of these days or for any days in the future. Thanks so much.
