IVSA Newsletter
October 2025 Edition
Stepping Into New Opportunities
At IVSA, each month brings fresh opportunities for students across Illinois to grow, learn, and discover new passions. This October, we’re especially excited to launch our new Agriculture courses, beginning with the October 14 cohort. These classes open doors for students to explore the vital world of Agriculture - from the science behind farming to the innovations shaping our future.
We’re also kicking off something fun for our youngest learners: the Recorder Superstars class for elementary students! Each week, students can gather online to make music together, build confidence, and enjoy the joy of learning a new instrument in a supportive environment.
This month’s newsletter also spotlights the Empower U PE Well-Being course, Dual Credit opportunities, and the University of Illinois Survey - your chance to share feedback and help shape the future of virtual learning at IVSA.
Every course, skill, and connection is another step forward. We’re excited to take those steps with you, together.

10 Questions with Mrs. Rahimi
What’s your name? Stephanie Rahimi
What subject(s) do you teach? High School Math
What inspired you to become a teacher? I knew I wanted to be a math teacher after having my Junior year math teacher - Mrs. Mejia. She challenged us while making math incredibly enjoyable just from her personality. I knew I wanted to attempt the same for my future students!
What’s one fun fact about you? Instead of a hopeless romantic, I am a hopeless Chicago sports fan. I gear up to watch every Bears game like Caleb Williams is not going to get sacked 8 times. This is our year!
What’s your favorite way to spend the weekend? My husband is a fabulous cook and we love hosting family friends and trying out new recipes. Our latest is making smoked pulled pork better than a restaurant!
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be? I always wanted to be a Dolphin Trainer. Considering I live in Illinois and really don't swim in oceans very often, this has always been a stretch goal.
Rapid Fire Round: Pick Your Favorites:
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Early Bird or Night Owl? Early Bird
Dogs or Cats? Dogs
Pizza or Tacos? Pizza
Beach or Mountains? Beach
What advice do you give students the most? Be coachable, dependable, and friendly. Those three traits will take you SO far in life :)
What is your dream vacation destination? I would love to go to an all-inclusive vacation at any Mexico or Caribbean destination!
What does being part of IVSA mean to you? I am thrilled to be a part of the IVSA team. Sharing my passion for mathematics across the state of Illinois is very exciting because the opportunities are endless. Getting to know my students all over the state is my favorite part of teaching at IVSA. Each student is so unique, and helping them grow as a math student and lifelong learner is so rewarding!
