Last Week at FCMS
Reading Rockstars
Congratulations to Mrs. Ariens “Reading Rockstars of the Week” for February 23: Aubrie Tschaenn and Liam Boothe.
Aubrie is an extremely responsible young lady! She comes into the classroom everyday with a positive attitude and is ready to learn. Thank you, Aubrie!
Liam is one of the most courteous students at FCMS. He shows respect during instruction, and has one of the greatest smiles ever! Thank you, Liam, for bringing your best to our classrooms!
Mrs. Ariens
Bird Beak lab! Students in Mrs. Ariens’ Science classes were given a tool representing a bird beak (fork, dropper, chopsticks, strainer spoon, tweezers, and binder clips). They raced to collect as much food as possible with their “beak”. Food included seeds (rice), rodents (marshmallows), insects (gummies) fish (cooked pasta in water), aquatic plants (peas in water), and flower nectar (water). They discovered that certain beak designs were more adept at catching different foods. Students had a blast!
Mr. Sherwood
Sixth graders have been learning about the Engineering Design Process. This is the "Paper Table Competition." One group was able to stack 21 books on a paper table made of masking tape and paper!
Mrs. Schneider
The seventh grade science class studied convection currents within the mantle.
Mrs. Ferman
Hunter Education
Thank you to DNR Officers for coming in and teaching students Hunter Education. This week girls from gym classes took the course. Next week boys from gym classes will have their turn.
Students were finally able to go back outside for recess! Bring on Spring!!!
FFA WEEK
FFA did a great job creating a fun week for our school. Students had daily activities, dress up days, a "Kiss the Critter" change war, and Are You Smarter Than an FFA Member?
