Imagine teaching a child the rules of soccer but never giving them time to actually play? Just like anything else, children need time to practice with the phonics skills they are learning by reading texts containing those concepts.
Luckily in Kindergarten-2nd grade, Marshfield has Geodes decodable books. Geodes are a wonderful resource which not only give our readers a chance to apply their learning, but also help build students' background knowledge and vocabulary, the essential components of comprehension. An added bonus, the students LOVE the stories, illustrations, and exciting new information they are learning about.

MEETING THE CHALLENGE:
Understanding, Preventing, and Responding Effectively To Challenging Behavior
Presented by Kathleen Dorn, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Pilgrim Area Collaborative
Having a child with challenging behavior can affect the entire family. This interactive workshop will provide parents with a basis for understanding the causes and functions of their child’s challenging behaviors. Practical strategies and pro-active interventions will be discussed as participants learn new ways to prevent and respond to challenging behaviors more effectively.
Additionally - Representatives from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Office of Public School Monitoring will provide a brief parent orientation about the upcoming Tiered Focus Monitoring Review of Marshfield Public Schools at the start of the evening.
