It has been a fabulous week back to learning here at Cimarron!
On Thursday, December 11 we shared an overview of our campus Targeted Improvement Plan and our ongoing focus on supporting student growth and success.
We invite all families to take a few moments to review the Cimarron Elementary Targeted Improvement Plan and share your feedback. Your input is important to us as we continue working together to strengthen our campus and better serve our students.

Minute with Counselor Miles
In January, Counselor Miles will be visiting classrooms, and students will be learning about cooperation—what it means and why it matters. Cooperation is working together, sharing ideas, listening to others, and taking turns to reach a common goal. These skills help students build positive friendships, solve problems peacefully, and feel successful both in and out of the classroom.
Through stories, students practice using kind words and respecting different perspectives. They will also talk about what cooperation looks like at school, at home, and on the playground.
Families can support this learning by encouraging teamwork at home—playing games together, sharing responsibilities, and praising your child when they show cooperation. When children practice these skills consistently, they grow into confident, caring members of our school community.

Lunch Visitors
CE is pleased to welcome parents to enjoy lunch with your child. All lunch visitors must check in at the front office and receive a visitor pass to wear while on campus. Please be sure that you have a valid government-issued photo ID in order to visit. Due to space and safety concerns, lunch visitors are limited to parents/step-parents/guardians, non-school-aged siblings and grandparents (accompanied by a parent or with written permission from a parent), or campus mentors. You may note your written permission for a grandparent to visit unaccompanied by filling out the Parent Permission for Elementary Lunch Visitors Form and turning it in to the CE Front Office.
Visits are limited to the 30-minute lunch period. Due to space limitations at the elementary level, no exceptions to the list of approved visitors can be made. Lunch visitors do not include aunts, uncles, friends or neighbors. In addition, lunch visitors are limited to two (2) guests per student per day, including younger siblings. Unusual circumstances may be approved in advance by the principal or assistant principal.
In order to get you checked in as quickly as possible, we ask that you let us know you plan to visit for lunch by completing the CE Lunch Visitor Pre-Raptor Form by 2 pm the day before you plan to visit. Completion of this form is not required, however it will allow you to get checked in at the office and off to visit your student's lunch more quickly.
We encourage you to arrive in a timely manner so that you have plenty of time to get checked in before your child's lunch begins. When you arrive on campus, our front office staff will greet you and view your physical, government issued photo ID. Then we will provide you with your Raptor badge so you can visit the cafeteria.
All lunch visitors are asked to follow our lunch visitor expectations:
- Lunch visits are limited to the 30-minute lunch period.
- Please proceed directly to the cafeteria after you have checked in. Your child will greet you at the visitor table.
- Lunch visitors should stay at the visitor table. Please do not walk around the lunch room.
- Other students are not permitted to join your family at the visitor table.
- If you plan to bring in lunch for your child, please know that you are not permitted to bring lunch for other students.
- Photos should be taken of your child only. Please do not take photos of other students.
- Please say goodbye to your child at the cafeteria door and return to the front office to exit the campus at the end of the 30-minute lunch period.
- You can return to the cafeteria through the front office after checking in, or you can visit our Parent Engagement Room to help with volunteer items if you are visiting your other child at a different lunch time.
- Visiting your child at lunch is a privilege we are pleased to share with our CE families. If our lunch visitor expectations are not followed, we may ask you to visit us on another day.
Friendly Reminders for Car Rider Arrival and Dismissal
- Please do not drop your student off at school in the morning prior to 7:30 am. Our doors open at 7:30 am, and there is no supervision provided prior to that time frame.
- Remember that our school is a school zone. Please do not use your cell phone for any reason.
- Please do not exit your vehicle for any reason. We will load/unload your student into your vehicle, but we will not unbuckle or buckle their seatbelt. If your child needs assistance in buckling after they have been loaded, please pull forward into a parking space in order to assist your child.
- Your child should enter and exit the vehicle from the passenger side only. We do not allow students to exit or enter the vehicle from the driver side.
- Please follow the directions given to you from CE employees. We are here to help and we want to load and unload your student in the safest and quickest manner possible. Thank you for your patience and kindness with our amazing Cimarron staff!
- Please enter the car rider dismissal line by driving down Peek, turning onto Katy Passage Road, then following through the neighborhood by turning right onto Legend Spring then another right onto Cascade Creek. Please do not try to go down Cascade Creek and make a u-turn into the line in an open spot.
- Occasionally some of our parents find a gap in the line next to them while navigating the car rider line and decide to line jump in an effort to get ahead. We want to take the time to explain this does the exact opposite for you AND for all the parents who happen to be around you when you make the jump.
- One of our staff members walks the line and writes down all numbers. Then, all kids are assigned a specific set and number to stand on.
- Line jumpers think they are getting ahead but your number hasn't been written down, and your child will not be brought to you in a timely manner like the vehicles around you.
- This results in you having to pull to the front of the school to wait until after car rider dismissal is complete to wait for us to get your child to you. Skipping the line and jumping in sets you and everyone else back.
- Please do not block driveways in the neighborhood while waiting in the car rider line. Everyone is doing a great job of this and being respectful to our neighbors. We appreciate it!
- Please do not pull around other vehicles in the line unless specifically directed to do so by a CE staff member.
- Please arrive on time in our parent car rider line. We ask that you arrive in the car rider line in order to get your number taken by 2:45 pm. We stop taking numbers at around 3 pm. If your number is not taken, you will need to wait to enter the front parking lot until around 3:15 pm. You will then park and exit your vehicle and come to the front office to pick up your child. You must have your car rider number or a valid government ID, and you may need to complete the late pickup form.
According to Texas State Law, all children younger than 8 years old, unless taller than 4’9”, are required to be in the appropriate child safety seat system whenever they ride in a passenger vehicle. The safety seat system MUST be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. According to manufacturer’s instructions, the safety seat system should not be placed near an air bag. Also, if your child is unable to buckle his or her own seatbelt and need your assistance, please pull into a parking spot. This allows you to safely support your child while we keep our car rider line running smoothly.
Our safety patrol students will load all students into the backseat of cars in the car rider line. If your child is 8 years old or taller than 4’9” and you would like for them to sit in the front passenger seat, please pull over into a parking spot to have your child make this switch.
Dropping Off Student Items
Should you need to drop off an item for a student, forms are provided for parents in our Front Office to complete and leave with the item(s) at the front desk. You must have your physical government issued photo ID in order to drop items off to the campus. It is our school’s procedure to deliver items to the classroom by 10:00 am. All items brought to school for delivery must be labeled with the student's name and teacher's name. Should you attempt to deliver a lunch for a student after 10 am, we will not accept it unless it is due to a medical need on file with our clinic. Our cafeteria provides free lunch to all students, and your student will eat lunch from our cafeteria if they do not have a lunch.
Any item that is delivered to the campus after 10:00 am daily will be placed in the teacher’s mailbox and/or delivered to students by 9:40 am the following day. All homework/communication cards/planners/folder deliveries will be placed in the teacher's mailbox. Homework will be considered late.
Students are not allowed to receive DoorDash/UberEats deliveries, bouquets of flowers, balloons or other gift type items at school. We will not participate in sharing birthday treats such as cupcakes, cookies, doughnuts, gift bags, birthday party invitations, etc for the class.
Please note that only persons listed on the lunch visitor form will be able to drop off a lunch for a student. Should someone other than those persons listed bring food for a student (including Doordash and other deliveries), we are unable to give that to the students and the lunch will be turned away at the door. This includes if the parent sends an email noting that a delivery is allowed - NO lunch deliveries other than from a parent/guardian or persons listed on the lunch visitor form will be accepted.
