MOY Math Assessment MOY Math Assessment

Last week, I shared our ELA data to show how well our students have been performing overall. This week, I would like to highlight our math data. The information shared here provides a snapshot of the entire school and/or grade level. If you would like a more in-depth look at how your child is doing, please connect with your child’s teacher or log into Schoology to view your child’s individual scores.

Looking at the triangles above, you can see that the percentage of students performing at grade level increased from 28% to 54%. We reduced the percentage of Strategic students from 51% to 37%, and the best part—we decreased our At-Risk students from 21% to 9%!

While we know there is still work to be done, these gains are worth celebrating. When teachers assign specific lessons or activities to your child, please ensure they are completed and take time to review their scores. It’s not about how many iReady minutes students log, we are focused on proficiency. We want to know: Do they truly understand the math standards and assignments being presented?

If you scroll below, you’ll find a breakdown by grade level. The top bar represents current data, and the bottom bar shows beginning-of-year data. The more green, the better, reducing red is our goal.

Leader in Me: Habit 6 Leader in Me: Habit 6

Habit 6, Synergize, teaches children how to work well with others by valuing different ideas, strengths, and perspectives. It means understanding that when people cooperate and listen to one another, they can come up with better solutions than they could on their own.

Synergize

How Parents Can Support Habit 6 at Home

Here are some easy, everyday ways to help your child practice Synergize at home:

1. Model teamwork

  • Let your child see you working together with others—whether it’s planning a family activity, solving a problem, or doing chores. Talk out loud about how different ideas help.
  • “Dad had a great idea, and Mom added to it—that helped us solve the problem!”

2. Encourage listening

  • When your child disagrees with a sibling or friend, coach them to listen first.Try asking:
    • What do you think the other person was trying to say?”
    • “How could both ideas work together?”

3. Celebrate differences

  • Point out that everyone has different strengths.
  • “You’re great at building, and your sister is great at decorating—look how well that worked together!”

4. Practice teamwork through play

  • Board games, sports, building projects, cooking, or family chores are great ways to practice synergy. Emphasize working with others, not just winning or finishing first.

5. Problem-solve together

  • When conflicts come up, guide your child to think of solutions that work for everyone. Ask:
    • What’s a solution that would be fair to both of you?”
    • “How can we work together to fix this?”

6. Praise the effort to work together

  • Notice and name synergy when you see it.
  • “I loved how you listened to your friend’s idea and added your own—that’s great teamwork!”

Career Day Career Day

We are excited to share that Career Day is coming up soon! This special day helps us build both career readiness and college readiness for our students by encouraging them to think about their future goals and dreams.

To celebrate, we invite students to:

  • Wear college gear (a college or university shirt, sweatshirt, or hat), or

  • Dress as a future career aspiration (what they want to be when they grow up)

Career Day is a fun and meaningful way for students to explore possibilities, learn about different paths, and begin conversations about college, careers, and lifelong goals.

Thank you for supporting your child as we help them dream big and plan for the future. We can’t wait to see all the great college pride and career creativity! It's on February 27th. So save the date!

Presidents' Day Presidents' Day

Presidents’ Day is a time for students to learn about leadership, history, and what it means to serve others.

Originally, this holiday was created to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States, whose birthday is in February. Over time, it became a day to recognize all U.S. presidents, past and present, and the important role they have played in shaping our country.

For elementary students, Presidents’ Day is not about memorizing dates or politics. Instead, it focuses on:

  • Learning about leadership and responsibility

  • Understanding how presidents help guide and serve our country

  • Exploring important character traits like honesty, courage, fairness, and perseverance
