A Message From Mrs. Salas:
Dear Runyan Families,
We hope you enjoy this four-day weekend!
Next week, is Random Acts of Kindness week. Join us for a fun week of dress-up themes and activities as we spread kindness across campus. We look forward to celebrating together and making a positive difference! (See below for details. Remember, dress up days are not mandatory).
We have three weeks to finish up this third marking period. Let's keep the momentum going and ensure all students continue making progress as we approach Spring Break!
It is important for students to be at school and on time each day. Our doors open at 7:10 a.m. There is little to no wait time from 7:10 to 7:40 a.m. Our instruction begins promptly at 7:55. When a child is late, they miss out on breakfast, early tutoring/intervention, morning announcements, their class Morning Meeting, and more. School attendance plays a vital role in the success and development of our students. When students are healthy, please have them at school and for the entire school day.
Regards,
Anel Salas, Principal
Runyan Elementary

Assessment Family Report
MAP Growth Assessment Family Reports have been uploaded to the Conroe ISD Home Access Center (HAC). The MAP Growth Family Report summarizes how your student is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test taken. To access the MAP Growth Family Report in HAC, navigate to the District Applications tab and click on "MAP Testing Reports". To learn more about the MAP Growth test, you can view the What is MAP Growth Video for Families (English) or Qué es MAP Growth-Video for families (Spanish). Additional information about MAP Growth can be found by visiting NWEA.org/familytoolkit
While MAP Growth Family Reports are not available in Spanish, MAP does provide a sample report in Spanish for reference purposes.
Toys and Personal Items
We’ve noticed some students bringing toys or small items (like Labubus) attached to their backpacks. We do not recommend students bring toys or personal items to school, as they can easily get lost or damaged.
Please note that the school is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
Arrival & Student Safety
For safety purposes we ask parents to not let students out of their vehicle in the street, at the bus ramp, and in the parking lot. This is a safety concern and also interferes with the efficiency of our traffic pattern. If your child will be tardy, please park your vehicle in an identified parking spot and walk your children into the front office to sign them in for the day. We appreciate your help in keeping our students safe and our car rider line flowing efficiently.
Counselor Corner
Do you know the signs of human trafficking happening in your own backyard? Learn more about what human trafficking is, how to identify possible victims of human trafficking and how to help them.
SCHOOL COUNSELOR INTERN
We are excited to welcome Ms. Chavez as a school counselor intern who will work alongside our school counselor to support students during the spring semester.
Nurse News
Carter Hart, RN
Janie Trejo, Clinic Assistant
Clinic Information
Please pack an extra pair of clothes, including underwear and socks, in your child’s backpack DAILY. (accidents and spills happen often)... even 4th graders.
It's important to call, email, or send a note to the nurse and teacher if your child is having any type of health problem on a particular day. This is extremely helpful for the nurse if your child presents to the clinic,
REGARDING MEDICATION:
In order for the nurse to give your child any medication (over the counter or prescription) a current, written doctors order is encouraged:
The medication must be approved for your child's age by the FDA (herbs cannot be given).
The medication must be in the original container
The medication must have the current prescription label on the bottle or inhaler
The medication must be BROUGHT to the nurse by the parent/guardian and permission form signed
Per CISD policy children are not allowed to transport medication (prescribed/otc)
REGARDING ILLNESS
A student will be sent home from school, with the following symptoms:
Temperature of 100 degrees or more, please keep your child home, until fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducer medication. This ensures your child is well and will not spread illness at school. A student should not be sent to school if a fever reducing medication is required to get the temperature below 100 degrees
Vomiting or diarrhea
Too ill to function in the classroom
Suspected contagious condition or disease
Vision and Hearing Screenings:
Pre-K, Kinder, 1st and 3rd graders and those new to Texas, will have vision and hearing screening this fall. Referrals will be sent home with those who fail. If your child has already had a screening with their medical provider you may send a copy to the clinic and we will update their health record.
Please call or email with questions or concerns

Only one adult may accompany a child at lunchtime. The adult must be identified within the child's records as a person with access to the child, and she/he will need a photo ID to check-in to the school.
The student and his/her adult guest will eat at the table in the Sun Room, near the front office.
A reservation is required, which the adult can book by calling the school receptionist at 936-709-2800.
Due to space, there is a limit of 5 reservations available for each lunch period.
Parents can sign up to join their child for lunch once every week.
