Mrs. Ciminera’s Weekly Update
Week of 9/29
How is tomorrow October?! We are already heading into month 2 of school, wow! What an amazing and beautiful weekend at SCJN! It was truly two fantastic days and the perfect way to spend my birthday. Thank you all for making me feel so special! Weekends like this remind me of what an incredible place SCJN is.
A special thank you to Mrs. Hurtado and Mrs. Shaknis for organizing an awesome Pizza Bingo and to Mr. Lythgoe for another successful Saints Stomp!
We have a busy and exciting week ahead:
Friday, October 3
-
Phillies Dress Down Day: Let’s kick off Red October as the Phillies head into their first game on Saturday! Wear Phillies gear, red, or Spirit Wear. Please remember that shorts must be school appropriate. Let’s send them some luck!
-
Garage Sale Kickoff: Our largest parish fundraiser officially begins. Please see details below. Starting Friday, lunch will be eaten in classrooms, and we could use extra hands to help. Both morning and afternoon recess will be on the field all week.
Monday, October 6
-
Golf & Tennis Outing: One of our biggest school fundraisers of the year! We can’t wait to see many of you there supporting SCJN. This event would not be possible without our amazing volunteers, please sign up if you’re able to help on the day.
-
Oakmont Fire Company Visit: Our youngest students will enjoy this special visit in honor of Fire Safety Week, always a highlight of the year!
Tuesday, October 7
-
Chick-Fil-A Day: Thanks to our 8th grade parents for bringing back this beloved tradition! Once a month we’ll enjoy Chick-fil-A for lunch (no Aramark service on these days). The order deadline for this month is Friday, October 3 at 11:59 pm. Grilled nuggets have been added to the order form, if you need to adjust an order, please contact Erin Tyrell at erintyrell@comcast.net
Wednesday, October 8
-
October School Liturgy: Grades 1–8 will gather for Mass at 9:15 am. Following last month’s protocol, only one door will remain open until the start, and all doors will be locked once Mass begins at 9:15am.
Trunk or Treat 2025 Our annual Trunk or Treat event will take place on Thursday, October 30th at 9am. All students participate in Trunk or Treat. Students in PreK 3-5th grade walk around the trunks, while 6-8 grade students get to watch and have their own candy table! The parade will start at 9am! Trunk set-up will begin at 8:15am - this will allow extra time to set up those fabulous trunks without the interference of the car-line traffic! If you would like to help with this event, please use the sign-up link below. In addition to trunk decorators, we will also need a few volunteers to help with set-up/clean-up. Limited parking spaces are available, so please reserve your spot as soon as possible! Candy/treats for each car to hand out to the students will be provided by H&S. If you have any questions, email Katie Chu at katiemannion2@gmail.com https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B4EA8AA2DA7F94-59077910-scjn
If you need to make a change in dismissal, it is best to call the office. Teachers often are not able to check their email throughout the day. For our youngest friends, sending a note into school is very helpful!!! Our goal is for everyone to get home safe and this really helps ensure this happens! All dismissal changes need to be communicated by 2:30pm in order to ensure we can get the message to your child!
Our puzzle for the month of October is Connections. Students will find common connections with words!
We are excited to kick off Fall enrichment on Tuesday, October 14 and Wednesday October 15. We have 14 classes to offer this session!! There is something for just about everyone! We hope many children will join in the after school fun!! Sign up here!!
Thank you for your endless support of SCJN!

Important Reminders
Important K–8 Car Line Reminders
To keep our morning car line safe and efficient, please remember:
All drivers must remain in their vehicles. Our staff is happy to assist with car doors and help children out safely.
Students should be ready to exit as soon as your car stops in line—this helps keep things moving quickly.
Pull all the way up to the sign so that five cars can unload at once.
Whenever possible, children should exit on the passenger side. If that isn’t possible due to car seats, please alert the staff member so they can assist from the driver’s side
All Things Garage Sale!
St. John Neumann Parish Garage Sale – Volunteer Help Needed!
St. John Neumann Parish’s largest fundraiser, the Garage Sale, is just around the corner! We are thrilled to welcome this amazing event back to campus. The sale draws thousands of visitors every year—from vintage resellers to local families—and many depend on being able to purchase high-quality items at deeply discounted prices. If you still have no idea what the Garage Sale is here is a two minute time lapse.
Why It Matters to SCJN Families
Proceeds support the day-to-day functions of St. John Neumann Parish, which directly offsets the financial demands for both parishioners and school families. The parish also provides important support to SCJN, so when you volunteer, you are directly helping our community, our church, and our school.
Our Greatest Volunteer Needs
This event runs entirely on volunteers—many of whom are senior citizens. We urgently need muscle power to complement their efforts.
Thursday, October 2 at 6:30PM – Life Center (come when your schedule allows!!)
Unpack the basement
Set up tables for the sale
Unload moving trucks of donated furniture
Come after work, sports, or carpool—no time is too small to give!
Fellowship encouraged follow for all volunteers
Sunday, October 11 after 1:30PM – Clean Up & Breakdown
Perfect for those who can’t help during business hours
