A few words from Principal Rico
Hello Everyone,
Part of what makes BFA so great is the community that supports us both in and out of the school building. What I have come to know is that when you support your community, your community supports you. Some ways that we can come together as a community is attending our sporting and fine arts events, wearing our BFA green and gold, and community events such as our Movie Night, or attending greater community events in Taylor Park. We are stronger when we stand together.
For a listing of opportunities, please see our daily announcements located on our website (https://www.maplerun.org/o/bfa/page/daily-announcements), and for St. Albans community events see the Downtown Saint Albans Facebook page.

The Rotary Club of St. Albans recognized two BFA-St. Albans students with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Laura Persons and Isabella Chappelow attended the Oct. 7 Rotary meeting to receive their certificates from Club President Leon Berthiaume and share about their RYLA experience with Rotarians.
Persons and Chappelow attended the Rotary District 7850 Youth Leadership Academy this past summer with more than 50 other students from across New England. Over the course of the weekend-long event, they learned leadership skills, heard from inspiring speakers and sang in a talent show and participated in community service projects.
Persons and Chappelow said they plan to put what they learned into action with BFA's Rotary Interact Club, a student-led group that organizes opportunities to volunteer and give back.
BFA Summer Governor's Institute Scholars
Bellows Free Academy is proud to announce that 14 students represented BFA at the Vermont Governor’s Institutes this summer!
These outstanding students will join peers from across the state in weeklong, residential learning experiences focused on areas such as arts, engineering, health and medicine, environmental science, mathematics, and global issues.
Each scholar was chosen for their curiosity, creativity, and commitment to learning. We’re excited to see how they’ll bring their new skills and inspiration back to our school and community!

PSAT/SAT OCT 29th schedule
Dear Students and Families,
This fall, all 10th- and 11th-grade students at BFA will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 29, during the school day. The district will cover the cost of the assessment to ensure equity and access for every student.
The PSAT gives us another valuable data point beyond the 9th-grade VTCAP to measure student growth across high school. By reviewing results over time, we can better understand how students are progressing and where they may need additional support.
For 11th graders, the PSAT also serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which provides opportunities for recognition and scholarships nationwide.
Benefits of the PSAT include:
Identifying strengths and areas for growth in reading, writing, and math.
Offering meaningful feedback to guide instruction and support postsecondary planning.
Providing equitable access to a nationally recognized test at no cost.
Giving students practice with standardized testing in a lower-stakes environment before the SAT.
Connecting students to scholarship opportunities and the College Board’s college readiness resources.
We are excited to offer this opportunity to all students and appreciate your support as they prepare to take part.
12th grade students who already registered will also take the SAT at this time.
