π New HSC Events Calendar
Hello HSC Instructors,
The HSC Events Calendar is now available to the public on the homepage of the HSC website.
One of the things that makes HomeSchool Campus unique is that families have direct access to the instructors who teach their children. Rather than meeting only with an administrator, parents have the opportunity to meet you personally, learn about your classes, ask questions, and get a feel for your teaching style before making enrollment decisions.
Whether a family is already enrolled or simply exploring class options, a Virtual Meet & Greet is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and help families feel confident in choosing your classes.
Over the coming weeks, HSC will begin promoting our public Events Calendar to current and prospective families. We encourage you to reserve one or more Meet & Greet sessions so families have plenty of opportunities to connect with our instructors. The more events we have scheduled, the more valuable this resource becomes for everyone.
Read on to learn how easy it is to schedule your Meet & Greet and begin connecting with families! This newsletter will be archived in the Instructor Portal. Click on the "HSC Newsletters" button to go over it again.
Warmly,
Michelle Holiday
π¬ Why Host a Virtual Meet & Greet?
You're welcome to schedule as many Meet & Greets as you'd like! The HSC Events Calendar remains available every month throughout the year, giving you the flexibility to connect with families whenever you'd like.
Benefits
β’ Families get to meet you personally and hear about your classes directly.
β’ Parents can ask questions and receive answers in real time.
β’ Students gain a better understanding of the classroom experience and what to expect.
β’ You have the opportunity to showcase your personality and teaching style, helping families feel confident about enrolling.
Many learning centers have parents meet only with an administrator. At HSC, we believe one of our greatest strengths is allowing families to connect directly with the instructors who will be teaching their students.
Please read on for simple steps:
ποΈ 1. Schedule Your Virtual Meet & Greet
Do this first step inside your Instructor Portal.
- Log in to your HSC Instructor Portal.
- Select an available date and time on the HSC Events Calendar.
- Once a time slot has been reserved, it will automatically be removed from the calendar so another instructor cannot schedule the same time.
- Calendar appointments are shown in one-hour increments for scheduling purposes only. You're welcome to conclude your Meet & Greet earlier if your discussion ends before the hour.
Once you have reserved your date and time on the HSC Events Calendar, log in to your personal Zoom account and create your Virtual Meet & Greet using the recommended Zoom settings below. You will complete the rest of the form after you acquire your Zoom registration link.
2. π Create Your Zoom Registration Link
Log into your personal Zoom account.
To help protect your meeting and automatically manage registrations, please use the following Zoom settings:
β Registration Required β ON
β Passcode β ON
β Waiting Room β ON
β Only authenticated users can join β OFF
These settings allow Zoom to:
- Automatically email meeting information to registered attendees.
- Keep your meeting link private.
- Allow you to see exactly who has registered.
- Provide an attendee list after your event.
- Prevent uninvited guests from joining through social media.
π 3. Complete Your HSC Event Listing
Go back to your Instructor Portal and complete the meeting form.
After creating your Zoom meeting:
- Copy the Zoom Registration Link (not the meeting link).
- Return to the HSC Events Calendar.
- Complete the scheduling form by adding:
- Event Title
- Brief Event Description
- Zoom Registration Link
Your Meet & Greet will then appear on the public HSC Events Calendar, where families can learn about your event and register.
π£ 4. Help Us Promote Your Event
Create a flyer for your scheduled event.
HSC will help advertise your Meet & Greet through our website and social media channels, but the greatest enrollment success comes from a combined effort.
After scheduling your event, please:
β Create a social media flyer in Canva announcing your Meet & Greet.
β Email it to HSCFlyers@gmail.com so we can share it on HSC's social media platforms.
β Post it on your own social media pages.
β Share it with homeschool groups and charter schools where you are an approved vendor.
Together we can reach more families and build stronger enrollment.
π€ What to Cover During the Meet & Greet
Keep it warm, friendly, and conversational.
Parents aren't expecting a full lessonβthey simply want to get to know you.
Consider covering:
- A brief overview of your class(es)
- Your teaching style
- Class expectations
- Materials or homework (if applicable)
- Why students enjoy your class
- Time for questions and answers
Most successful Meet & Greets last 20β30 minutes.
β€οΈ After Your Meet & Greet
A simple follow-up can go a long way.
We encourage instructors to:
- Send a brief thank-you email to everyone who attended.
- Watch your class rosters over the next few days.
- If a family has not yet enrolled, consider reaching out to see if they have any additional questions.
Building relationships with families is one of the best ways to strengthen enrollment.
π± Sample Social Media Template
Below is a example of a "social media template" for a virtual Meet & Greet, that was created in Canva. Canva is free, easy to use, and you can save, edit and reuse your creations for future dates. After you create your post, email it to our social media address: HSCFlyers@gmail.com, along with the Zoom registration link to your scheduled virtual Meet & Greet event and we will share it on our social media platforms.
For consistency, please include:
β’ Instructor name
β’ Meet & Greet date and time
β’ Subjects being discussed (include only the subjects you will actually discuss rather than every class you teach).
β’ Applicable grade levels
β’ Optional instructor photo
π Optional Virtual Orientations
The HSC Events Calendar isn't just for Meet & Greets.
You're also welcome to schedule a Virtual Orientation for students who are already enrolled prior to the start of the semester.
These sessions can be used to:
β’ Welcome students
β’ Review classroom expectations
β’ Discuss supplies
β’ Answer last-minute questions
β’ Help students feel prepared before the first day of class
While optional, many instructors find these sessions help students arrive feeling excited and confident.

The BEST Way to Post on Instagram
1. Invite HSC as a "Collaborator"
Together, We Are STRONGER! πͺ
The Collaborator feature lets your post appear on both your profile and on HSC's profile. It also shows up in both sets of our feeds, and both of our accounts share the likes, comments, and views.
Here's how to do it:
- Create a new post or Reel as you normally would.
- Tap Next until you reach the screen where you add your caption.
- Tap Invite collaborator.
- Search for the HomeSchool Campus Instagram account and select it.
- Publish the post.
HSC will then receive an invitation.
Once we accept it, the post will:
β’ Appear on both of our profiles.
β’ Be shown to both of our audiences.
β’ Share one set of comments, likes, and view counts.
A few general things to know:
- You can invite collaborators on both posts and Reels.
- The other account must accept the invitation before it appears on their profile.
- If the invitation is declined, the post remains only on the sender's own own account (however either party can still be "tagged" on the post).
- You can only invite accounts that are eligible for the feature. Occasionally, the option isn't available because of account type, age restrictions, or if Instagram is testing features.
2. π¬ Create Reels
One of the best ways to grab attention and spread the word about your class!
A short, 20β30 second reel can show your personality, highlight what makes your class fun, or share a quick behind-the-scenes moment. These videos are easy to film on your phone and can be shared across Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok. And remember- reels donβt need to be perfect. Authentic, upbeat, and personal works best.
Ideas for your reel:
-
Introduce yourself with a fun fact or hobby
-
Show a sneak peek of a project, experiment, or activity from your class
-
Share 2β3 quick reasons why students will love your class
-
End with an invitation: βI canβt wait to see you in [Class Name]!β
Email your reel to: HSCFlyers@gmail.com (but our preference is for you to have your own social media accounts and to invite Homeschool Campus as a collaborator, as explained in the previous section above).
π° 3. Make Flyers for Your Post
Please create flyers (or a short reel) for us to post on our HSC social media platforms.
- Email it to: HSCFlyers@gmail.com
- Include a brief description in the subject line
- Create one flyer that highlights all of your classes, (OR)
Send one flyer per class (great for spotlighting each class individually)
Include a one-two sentence "blurb" that we can copy and past for your post
Include the HSC website link: HomeSchoolCampus.org on each flyer or reel so viewers know where to enroll
Youβre welcome to send as many flyers or reels as youβd like β weβll keep sharing them on our HSC Facebook and Instagram accounts.
We recommend using Canva, which makes it easy to resize for different platforms. You can design one flyer, but for best display results:
Save one version sized for Instagram, and
Resize that same flyer for Facebook before sending both copies.
π 4. Post on FaceBook
For homeschool instructors or independent educators in Southern California, social mediaβespecially Facebookβis a powerful tool for reaching families. Here are some of the most popular and active social media groups and platforms where instructors can post about their services and classes.
Also, reach out to the charter schools where you are an approved vendor and ask how you can promote your classes through their social media channels, newsletters, or other parent communications.
