High school can be stressful. There is a lot that our young people have to learn to manage. And, I'm really glad that we have decided as a staff to also focus on strategies to help kids connect with each other, build community, and restore their energy so that they are ready to address and persevere through challenges. This is a photo of one of our WIN Time groups that does thirty minutes of yoga each week. These students choose to be in this session, and I think it is a great reminder that everyone benefits from creating space for reflection. If we can provide that opportunity for our kids, we are doing something right.

Due to the federal government shutdown, households of furloughed employees may be eligible for free or reduced-price meal benefits. A furlough is a unique situation where households may not have information on the duration of the furlough or the ultimate impact on the household income. While free or reduced-price meal eligibility is intended to reflect actual annual income, applications may reflect the current household situation.

Families whose household income has been impacted by the government shutdown are encouraged to apply for free/reduced-price meal benefits for their student(s). Information on completing the application form can be found on the district's website here.

Should the economic hardship due to the furlough be remedied, families whose applications were approved should terminate or update their free/reduced price status.

In support of the Veterans Day Assembly, the Sentinel Battalion would like to invite students, staff, and families to share their military heritage.

If you have a photograph of

• a family member currently serving
• a family member who is a veteran from any branch
• or an ancestor who served (like a great grandparent who fought in WWII)

Please share their photo, their information, and who they are related to in the school so we can share your legacy with the school.
