Fall Student Conferences ~ December 2 & 3, 2026
Student conferences are right around the corner! It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of our first trimester. We are excited to welcome you to Ocean Avenue School to meet with your child’s teacher and learn about all the wonderful things your child has been learning and accomplishing this trimester!
FALL CONFERENCE DATES
Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3, 2026
Your conference invitation will be arriving soon from your child’s teacher through ReachMyTeach. The email will be titled “Ocean Avenue School Conferences – December 2 and 3, 2026.”
Please keep an eye on your inbox for this invitation and follow the link provided to schedule your conference.
Conference time slots tend to fill up quickly, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as you receive the invitation. If you have difficulty finding an available time that works for your schedule, please contact the Main Office. We are always happy to help!
We look forward to connecting with you, celebrating your child’s growth, and sharing all they have accomplished during the first trimester.
We can’t wait to see you on December 2nd and 3rd!

🍂 Lost & Found Reminder! 🍂
Our Lost and Found is starting to fill up! We have quite a collection of sweatshirts, coats, water bottles, and other miscellaneous items just waiting to find their way back home.
If your child is missing something, we kindly encourage you to stop by and take a peek! We also invite all families to take a few moments to check out the Lost and Found while visiting the school for conferences on December 2nd and December 3rd. You never know what treasures you might find!
As a friendly reminder, please be sure to label your child's clothing and personal belongings whenever possible. Having names on items makes it much easier for us to reunite lost belongings with their rightful owners.
Thank you for helping us keep our Lost and Found organized and for making sure those missing items find their way home! ❤️
Library Notes
Back Cove Books is proud to host an in-store book fair to benefit the elementary schools of the Portland Public School District on Wednesday, November 11th from 9am - 6pm!
Back Cove Books is located at 651 Forest Ave in Portland. BCB will be filling the store and Odd Fellows Hall (located on the 2nd floor) with all of the things you love about a classic book fair - books, books, stickers, tiny journals, bookmarks, books, and more books!
It is extremely important to BCB that every member of our community sees themselves in the books and stories we have on our shelves. As such, we are proud to present an offering of titles that covers a wide range of reading levels, is diverse in character/author/topic, and is not cost prohibitive to participating families.
The extra magical part? 20% of every purchase will be donated back as a store credit to the Portland elementary school of your choosing!
Can't make the fair in-person? No worries! Back Cove Books will be hosting an online portion of the fair from November 11th - November 13th at backcovebooks.com/bookfair (webpage launching November 11th).
Questions? Contact the store at hello@backcovebooks.com
Nurse Notes
Head Lice on the Rise
Cases of head lice have been on the upswing throughout Ocean Ave and other schools. Head lice are very common and are more active during the cooler part of the year when children are indoors and in close proximity. Please check your child's head closely and if lice are found, take appropriate measures to treat the child's hair. If one person in your home has lice, it is necessary to check everyone in the household. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nurse Carrie.
Greater Portland Health's Oral Health Program
The Dental Clinic is coming back soon for the Fall/Winter at Ocean Ave! Greater Portland Health's Children’s Oral Health Program provides dental services on-site at your child’s school. By enrolling your child, you provide them with access to on-site dental cleanings with a Greater Portland Health Dental Hygienist.
Please complete the Children’s Oral Health Program Enrollment Form at the following link - Enrollment Form - to allow your student to receive dental cleanings at their school. Enrollment is optional and open to all students, regardless of where they get their primary care.

Tissues and Hand Sanitizer Needed!
Now that cold and flu season is upon us, our tissue and hand sanitizer supply is dwindling down. We are looking for donations of tissue boxes and hand sanitizer to help get us stocked up for the cold, winter months. We appreciate your generosity!
Thank you for your donations!
