It was another busy and exciting week at Donalda School!

Both of our volleyball teams were in action this week. The boys hosted an intersquad event in Donalda, welcoming teams from Botha, Big Valley, and Christ-King. It was wonderful to watch our boys work hard, make some great plays, and cheer one another on. The energy and sportsmanship made for a great night in our gym! A big thank you to Mrs. Norman for organizing the event. Our girls’ team also hosted Wm. E. Hay B for a great exchange of games before heading to Bashaw on the weekend to compete in a tournament. The games on Saturday were so fun! The girls pulled all of their hard work at practices and games and put it altogether to play some top notch jr high girls volleyball. The got second in the tournament to a very strong Delburne, but I look forward to our girls facing them again! We are proud of both teams for their hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment to representing Donalda School!

On Friday, we welcomed math guru Chris Zarski to our building. Chris demonstrated a math lesson alongside our math teachers, followed by an opportunity to debrief and reflect on the instructional strategies and student learning. This type of professional learning is an excellent opportunity for our teachers to strengthen their instructional practice, explore effective ways to teach mathematical concepts, and deepen their own conceptual understanding of curriculum outcomes. We appreciate the opportunity to learn together and continue growing as educators!

McCoy Wainwright

McCoy is a diligent and hardworking member of our Grade 3/4 class. Despite missing a stretch of school in September, he jumped back into learning without hesitation and showed greate determination to catch up. McCoy has worked incredibly hard to catch up and has shown great determination along the way. He should be so proud of the effort he has put in and the positive attitude he has brought to his learning. Way to go, McCoy! Keep up the amazing work!

School is Pretty Cool School is Pretty Cool

I want to make families and staff aware that our main boiler is being repaired, and so as we see the temperatures drop outside, the school will be a little cooler as well. Please bring an extra sweater Monday and Tuesday, as it will feel chilly in our building.

Awards Night Awards Night

We warmly invite everyone to join us for our Fall Annual Awards Night as we celebrate the accomplishments and successes of our students! It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community and recognize the hard work and achievements of our students. Everyone is welcome, so please RSVP if you plan to attend. Families of students receiving an award will have received an email from the school with further details.

Survey: Online Safety Presenation for Parents & Community Members Survey: Online Safety Presenation for Parents & Community Members

Our school has the opportunity to host the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre to provide online safety presentations for our students during the school day, as well as an evening presentation for parents and community members.

Please note that the evening presentation is intended for adults and is not appropriate for children. Children would not be permitted to attend.

Before moving forward, I would like to gather feedback from our parents to gauge interest in this opportunity and determine whether there would be sufficient community participation to host the evening presentation.
